Guest guest
Congratulation on your friend make a good decision! I'm sure you something to do with that.;~) I too declined the Hep b, but am not convinced Henry didn'y get one anyway. I took him for a physical last Friday that included a CBC. The ped looked at me and asked me if I wanted anything else? I said as a matter of fact I do and asked that he be checked for hep b and measles titers. I believe he had the measles 3 years ago and have always been curious to know for sure. If I'm not mistaken, titers may not show even if he was shot with a hep b or had the measles, but it's still worth a try. I also asked for Lyme test; it's bad here too. Anita " Sheri B. They had actually been struggling with it (they plan to give it later - oh well, maybe they'll change their minds) and this made it easy for them. Interestingly, the OB nurse came by and asked her why she declined it. My friend just said, " She's a few hours old. I don't think she'll be doing IV drugs or having promiscuous sex any time soon. " The nurse laughed and said, " that's the same reason I declined it for my baby. " YESS! Evidently - from what my friend understands - one can pick and choose vaccines in Illinois. Is this true (Traci?)? In North Carolina it's all or nothing. Sheri B. --------------------------------- New Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big. Guest guest
good for your friend!!!! i don't know about illinois, but in NC it's not exactly 'all or nothing'. first of all, until the child goes to school (IF s/he does), it's not an issue in any case. if at school, you can hand in a religious exemption any time they ask for evidence of the latest vaccine according to the schedule. i did that in 1998 when dd attended a school in hollysprings. :-) claudia --- " Sheri B. Guest guest
Do you think they can still administer Hep B vaccine in the hospital, even if you declined it? I was rooming in with my son, but I once he was in the nuresry by himself when the doctor came to examine him... Re: My friend declined the Hep B for her baby! Guest guest
I have brought this up to the group in the past and learned that it can and does and just goes undocumented. Guest guest
I wouldn't doubt it if " oopsies " happen. We have told our doc we're not vac, but everytime we go in they say, " oh, you're here for such- and-such shots, aren't you? " It's like they don't even remember. > Good news! Guest guest
So the only way to find out if your kid has been given a shot is through a blood test? Is it reliable? How did those other people discover it if it hasn't been documented? Olga Re: My friend declined the Hep B for her baby! Guest guest
Can't say as I don't have personal experience with it; not yet anyway. Anyone?
