Guest guest
I can'y help you with studies in older children Pat, but I would urge you to watch this presentation by Dr. Wakefield and others before making a decision. http://www.chem.cmu.edu/wakefield/ Anita peebster1 <peebster1@...> wrote: I'm trying to decide whether to vaccinate my 4 year old with the MMR vaccine. I guess my question is this... has there been any studies conducted on older children who received the MMR shot? I mean, if the CDC argues that the high rise in autism is due to the fact that the MMR shot is scheduled during a time in a child's life when autism is most likely to be detected...what about older children? I've never seen any statistics on older children and think it would certainly be of interest to everyone involved in this debate...especially those of us who have delayed this particular vaccination. Guest guest
Anita, Have you watched this recently? Everytime I try to lately, it attacks my pc. I wonder if one of the bad guys made it try to spread a virus to all who watch it? If you don't have an antivirus, don't watch it. Guest guest
If you read the actual ingredients in the MMR that might scare the pants off anyone. Knowing what's in vaccines is what influenced me(partially) not to give our 5 yr. old the MMR booster. I had this info. too. I may be able to dig it up. Anyone else have it? Guest guest
Hi. Maybe also you might consider looking at the diseases the vaccine is for, some herbal and homeopathic remedies for the symptoms and the actual frequency of occurance and severity today of the disease you are vaccinating for...measles, mumps and rubella.. http://www.healthsentinel.com/graphs.php?id=20 & event=graphs_print_list_item this is a measles graph of where the frequency of the disease was at when the vaccine was invented, and there are others on this site... good luck in your decision, > > I'm trying to decide whether to vaccinate my 4 year old with the MMR > > vaccine. Guest guest
Pat, First of all, you need to ask yourself: are you afraid of the measles, mumps or rubella? I've known people to have all of them and usually, in 98% of cases, they're just an annoyance and not life-threatening at all. Also, when you consider that the shots are not going to provide your child with any lasting immunity (if any at all!) then you gotta ask the question: what's the point? We've all read articles on here where there's an outbreak of mumps or measles or chicken pox and most of the kids are vaccinated. So the shots don't work all the time. So I suppose you need to figure out why exactly you would vaccinate your child for this in the first place. Everyone has a disease that their " fear factor " . Polio and meningitis are probably mine. Tetanus for others on here. But measles? Mumps? Rubella? I'd be worried if my daughters had these while pregnant. But by the same token I know she'll never have permanent immunity from them unless she actually GETS them. Just my two cents! Good subject for discussion. Take care, Sheri B. peebster1 <peebster1@...> wrote: I'm trying to decide whether to vaccinate my 4 year old with the MMR vaccine. Guest guest
Another point that I forgot to mention, Pat, is that sometimes booster shots push kids into the spectrum. It just overflowed their little buckets, so to speak. My sister, who has an autistic child, has learned of some families whose children slipped away after their boosters. And even - although rarely - of teens who have done the same after those boosters. It might be worth researching. Sheri B. --------------------------------- Bring photos to life! Guest guest
I just tried it and it's working fine for me. We have good virus protection; maybe that is why. Guest guest
Pat, my son was damaged by the MMR so I am biased but can I ask - did your child have the first shot? If so why don't you get a titre test - the second shot may not even be necessary. Deborah

They may not get autism, but something similar for an older child Curious why you are concerned about those diseases.
