Guest guest
Hi, Amelia. Have you ever tried tryptophan or 5-HTP? They should boost your serotonin. I think serotonin deficiency can be behind gut motility problems. I'm not sure it will work for you, but if you haven't tried it before, it might be worth a try. I guess you must know by now that I'm big on getting the Yasko panel. It's expensive, but it could really point the way to go. Guest guest
If the Milk of Magnesia and the mag supplements work, what is the problem? I find a big difference between green leafy veggies and all others. Only the leafies help. Adrienne What is the Best Way to a Healthy Colon? I know that I, possibly, have a genetic weakness for unhealthy colon health..it goes back, at least 4 generations, with Constipation being the primary symptom. My grandfather ate healthily, with greens from his garden, but still had this problem..I think that my mother suffered through her diseases, because of her lack of good digestion/unhealthy colon and resultant lack of good intestinal health.. With that in mind, what are the best ways to solve this problem.. I use Betaine Hydrochloride (had Achlorhydria on Heidelberg testing), which has improved digestion.. I use Probiotics.. I am on a high protein/low carb diet..I get plenty of fiber through the foods I eat. I use Fish Oil/Coenzyme Q/10, which is helping with Mitochondria..energy But I still have to use MOM (Milk of Magnesia) to bowel tolerance..and as much Magnesium Glycinate/Mag.Malaate, as needed for healthy stools.. I plan to start Juicing/imbibing as much greens, as possible, but I, already eat a lot of green vegetables. Will this help? I am using Lipo Glutathione, right now, but it was hot when delivered, and have not had a reaction, yet. I had used the supplements that are considered precursors for building Glutathione for about 2-3 years, without apparent success. Is nebulized gluathione, or some other glutathione a better method? or should I just get tested, now, via Yasko's route? My most useful supplements, in the past... Transfer Factor for Targeted Viruses Olive Leaf Extract GSE/ Yeast Cleanse Pregnenolone Magnesium Glycinate/Malatte Digestive Enzymes Fish Oil Coenzyme Q/10 Niacin How many people have had colonics?..I have heard mixed stories on the use of this...who is for them, and what is the best method? Guest guest
HI Leafy green veggies are a great source of fiber and Magnesium...... however, some greens have a lot of iron (spinach) and that can be constipating. mjh " The Basil Book " _http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/_ (http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/) by: " Adrienne G. Guest guest
Name another one, please. If it is only spinach that would be easy to get around. I have never experienced greens as constipating. Have you? Adrienne Re: What is the Best Way to a Healthy Colon? Guest guest
I have not used Trytophan, since it was taken off the health market, but I was planning on trying it, again, for insomnia..so that's a 2fer if it will help motility. What dosage level? I just joined AutismAnswer, yesterday, and have not read much..Does her testing include an inherited weakness for the Intestinal Tract..and subsequent treatment? Guest guest
Hi, Amelia. One gram of tryptophan at bedtime, taken apart from eating protein, is a typical dosage to help with sleep. Amy Yasko does have a gut program. I don't know if it specifically deals with inherited weakness in the intestinal tract, but since her program overall does compensate for genetic variations, I think there's a good possibility that it would help with that. As I've probably said before, I think many of the gut problems are involved with serotonin issues, since most of the serotonin in the body is in the gut, and it is associated with controlling gut motility. Guest guest
Be careful, as trytophan can degrade into products that can be irritants, in the presence of chronic infection. > > > > I have not used Trytophan, since it was taken off the health > market, > > but I was planning on trying it, again, for insomnia..so that's a > > 2fer if it will help motility. Dear Jill, What kind of products, that can be irritants? I need to increase serotonin..for gut motility and insomnia..what would you use? I have not noticed any benefit from 5-HTP, but will try again, in light of the discussion, lately...and I have some melatonin, although, in the past, I have not noticed any improvement in sleep capacity....And I have never tried SAM-e, that I can remember, but will try it, again, too. TIA, Amelia
Guest guest
I believe its kynurenic acid. But oddly enough in her DVDs Yasko noted this has some positives. For me, if I take trytophan, Ifall asleep but wake up extremely irritable. If I take 5HTP or NADH, my bladder burns... Not sure what the above means. GABA, benzos, calm my entire system. I'm trying to get off them tho.
