I'm wondering if the people who respond poorly to SAMe also do poorly on

tryptophan or 5 HTP and if there's any inference that can be drawn from this.

Like SAM-e, l-Tryptophan needs to be taken on an empty stomach. Two hours

after food or one hour before food to be optimally effective.

Hi, .

Yes. When I said " consistently,Yes. When I said " consistently,<WBR> "

when other protein was being ingested. If you just load up on

tryptophan at bedtime, yes, by morning it should have done what it's

going to do and be out of there.

Some more knowledgable docs will prescrbe either with an SSRI in an attempt

to keep the drug dose lower. This combo should only be done under medical

supervision in my opinion.

I take SAM-e early in the day and l-Tryptophan at bedtime. With this combo,

I can get about eight hours of deep sleep.

Taken after about 3 pm, SAM-e can keep folks from sleeping. I took it once

at 4 pm and was bright and chipper until 6 am. Not good when there are

circadian rhythm issues as well as sleep problems.

Ive taken both of these, trytophan and sam-e with no problems. Maybe if

you take them at the same time there could be a " seotonin syndrome "

problem. not sure about that though. I know you definately not suuposed

to take tryptophan w/ anti-depressant, not sure if you can have the same

issure with sam-e

I do great on trypto, but couldn't tolerate SAMe at all. It was as if I was

overdosing on phenylalanine which I was also taking, so I figured it must be

synergistic w. the phenylal. so I stopped taking it. Couldn't afford to stop the

phenylal. It worked.

SAMe does absolutely nothing for me, good or bad. Tryptophan is very

effective for helping me get to sleep. Oddly 5-HTP also seemed to do nothing.
