We got about a 5 mile walk in, halfof it carrying 6 bags of clothes, and I wound up with 15 pieces (slacks, shirts, a few sweaters, a summery dress, and a nice pair of lightweightoveralls in a greenish linen) for a grand total of $50, about half stillwith the tags on. We're debating whether to go back tomorrow or now. Ourwristbands will get us in for free, so we might.Sue in NJ . Live, Love, Laugh
Guest guest
> I love hearing about the deals you get at the Fat Girl's Flea Market!!! I can't remember is it just once a year? Yep. This was only the 4th year, I think, and the second for me. The other years it was in May, but a new woman took over this year and she couldn't do it until July. At least the room *was* air conditioned, so it was comfortable as well as fun. >It's wortht he wait - almost makes me wish I lived in the area 5 miles is awesome! But that 5 mile trip there took us almost 2 hours Saturday! I don't know if this was national or just local news, but the feds discovered a terrorist plot to blow up the subway we take (PATH trains - Port Authority Trans-Hudson) just last Thursday, so everything was super slow and super secure. Just to get to the subway platform to get the NYC trains we had to go through a metal detector, have my bag searched, then step into a chemical detector booth, all this before we even got near the tracks. The station was crawling with men with big guns, too. Then, for security's sake, all the trains were diverted to just one track so the military could patrol the track in the tunnel under the Hudson River, so instead of every 10 minutes or so, it took over a half hour for each train to arrive, and if it wasn't our train, wait another half hour until the right one arrived. Then, because of the track sharing, trains had to stop to let others use the track now and then. We also heard that each train had at least one plain-clothed marshal on it, too. It was the same coming home, but this time it took us 2 1/2 hours for the trip. We probably could have saved ourselves some of that hassle by taking a ferry across the river, but that would have cost about 10 times as much (subway $1.50, I think - Ed buys 40-trip passes - ferry $10 each) and leave us off in a different part of the city so we would *still* have to take another subway. Still, it was worth it, and I plan on hitting it next year, too, no matter what size I am, as they had from size 12 and up this year (I saw some 8x on one table). But bring a tape measure! My pile had from size 22 up to 6x in it, and the measurements were nearly identical in every item. Some of the 3x's I picked up and measured (and tossed right back!) had 30 " waists and 40 " hips! In what universe are *they* a 3x? Sue in NJ
Guest guest
It was a good day - I guess - I got in a 15 minute walk but nowhere near the amount of steps/miles I wanted to accomplish... I know I shouldn't use the excuse of the kids are here, because there are those of the group members that are making time with out of town guests and visitors, but my kids will literally beat each other up if things aren't just right and I am not here to play cop. I hate to do work out videos in their presence too.... So, my new "goal" for this upcoming week is to get up "a tiny bit earlier in the morning" and walk to Curves, do my workout and then go to work. I think I will also take a walk on my break(s) and lunch - I certainly don't need to sit around eating - I can do that at my desk after my walking LOL!! For those that have been tracking my trekking (LOL I love my plays on words) - I have now walked 2.85 million steps since last June (14 months) and some of my weight loss buddies are going to up the ante and challenge ourselves to "30 miles worth of exercise" each week. This equates to 60,000 steps total - or an average of a little over 8500 steps a day. It's been my goal to be in the 7-10000 range, so this just cements the need to press on!! I am actually looking forward - am I twisted or what - to my weigh in at Curves this week!! It'll be my 10-month *anniversary* there ;-) Anyway, I hope you all have a great Sunday and are refreshed and revitalized for a new week. Thanks for all of the support and encouragement you provide,
Guest guest
Sounds like going to my MIL house - food fest always with a great dessert Sometimes I dread going over there! But eating something before sounds like a good idea. I usually try to drink lots of water while I'm there. I just notice we are the same starting weight and have the same goal weight How long have you been at your 'lifestyle" change? Guest guest
THIS time? LOL 2 weeks Me too Me too!!! Trying to make this one stick Just remember that having a birthday, holiday or special meal out doesn't "have to" give us license to overeat and go "totally off plan".... just plan for it ahead of time. If you know on Monday that you are eating out on Saturday - stay "on plan" all week to the best of your abilities and be sure to get all your exercise and water in. Then on Saturday you know you can enjoy yourself without any guilt or feelings of going off plan.... if you didn't know in advance and "plan" for it.... just do your best, make the best choices you can, don't overindulge and move on.... She told my husband she is making finger foods instead of dinner....I'll probably eat before I leave so I won't be tempted to pig out. I just don't understand her sometimes she'll go on and on about how I need to watch what I eat so gain more weight, then she turns around and does this. On top of all that she bought me a key lime pie, my favorite, instead of a birthday cake. The bad thing is she did this last year too, and no one would help me eat it so half got trashed... Then I felt guilty. I wouldn't feel guilty . She knows you are losing weight and probably don't want/need the stuff. Some people mindlessly try to sabotage our efforts when they know better - don't let it get to you. Just eat what you either want or can and leave the rest for the trash with no feelings of guilt. SO my goal for today is eat as little as possible today, but eat something before I leave for her house. Maybe this will help me not break the calorie bank! Hope it went well - let us know. I took some before I left for her house. I was starving when I took it and by the time dinner was served I wasn't hungry. So I hate half a caesar salad and 2 homemade chicken fingers and called it good. I did however, eat 2 pieces of Key lime pie! They were wonderful! I just KNEW I would gain weight after that so I braced myself for my WI this morning. I did NOT gain weight. I didn't lose BUT I didn't gain. YAY! I did take the rest of the pie cut into individual servings and froze it. Then when I want to indulge I can have 1 slice and I have to defrost it before i eat it so I may not want it when it is thawed. If I still want it I can have it IF I bank the 370 calories that it has in it. Yay for you!! Great job! WOW that hoodiea works that way, huh? Good job eating minimal and letting it go at that. Definately plan for the pie in the future though...
