I think it does, . I don't like to count calories or anything, but just being aware of the amount that is going in, has helped me tremendously.... even if you are going to allow yourself to splurge and have the kit kats and frostys, write them down. Writing about what you are feeling also helps (IMHO).... anger, boredom, etc.... that way, we can try to work through our trigger times of day/week/month...

Makes sense, Sapphyre. We are the only ones that can make the decision... noone else.

Right now, my decision to make is to go exercise or not LOL.... always a struggle, still always a struggle.... I hope that one gets easier for me over time....

it helps you THINK about the food you're putting into your body and keeping up with what you've eaten and how many calories you've consumed. nothing is really going to stop you from eating bad things but YOU. if you're honest on your journals and record everything you can see over time where you're going wrong, etc. if you want to stop eating certain foods, ie sweets, just STOP EATING THEM. if you don't buy them they wont be there for you to eat, if you have to buy them for others (kids, husband, whatever) just say NO and stay away from them. it sucks they can eat them and you cant but that's the way it is and YOU have to make that decision, no one else can. i'm having the same problem but its something I MYSELF have to work out. good luck :). <memyselves@...> wrote: Hi there friends, <snip> I have a question for those of you that journal your food. For me, journaling my food isn't about avoiding anything...like, if I

want a Frosty really badly, then I go get one--after I check the

calorie count online. Sometimes by the time I figure out the calories

for something like that, it just doesn't sound so good. Journaling,

for me, is also about being able to look back and see when the last

time was that I really went off my plan. If I plan ahead of time to

go off of it, I write that at the top of the page-- " Planned day off " .

If I went way over and I wasn't planning to, then I write " Unplanned

day off " . I find the unplanned days off are the dangerous ones for me

because they're like rabbits--they multiply. Quickly. :)

It's also about being able to see where I'm at for the day in terms of

calories and then, if after supper I want to have a little s/f pudding

or something and I have the calories left over to do so, then I can do

it without feeling guilty. It also helps before TOM when I tend to

eat nothing but junk food--now I look over the day and think, " Wow,

need to get at least one fruit and veggie in there. "

At first it was inconvenient. Now it's second nature. Even my

planned days off I write everything down, I just don't feel guilty if

I " go over " by 300 calories because it's planned. And most days, I

don't. Even on planned days off, I'll be right within my daily range.

It really has worked wonders for me. You have nothing to lose...if

you're curious about it, why not try it for a week and see what you

or a million other sites and just kind of go from there, if you're

unsure what to aim for.

Hi , I just wanted to thank you for responding. That is good about what you said about writing down about feelings when I eat something. I think that can really point some stuff out to me (triggers) like you said. Because right now I really don't know what all my triggers are. 340/293.9/275 Re: Journaling?I think it does, . Sapphyre, You are right! The only one that can stop eating the food is me. It is just so dang hard right now. I am going to start journaling. At least try it for a week and see what happens. My husband gets those Little Debbie Cakes and sits there at night right beside me and eats them. I know just how good those are and it is so tempting to ask him to share. I feel like it isn't fair that I can't have one of those. Maybe if I started counting calories it might help and if I have enough calories left over (doubtful) at the end of the day I could have one. But you are right, it is not up to my husband or anyone else. It is up to me to stop eating. You are being very frank and honest with me and I appreciate that. 340/293.9/275

Well, I'm walking in your shoes. It sucks that our metabolism is so freaking slow. It sucks our friends and family can snack like little pigs and not gain an ounce and we LOOK at food and gain 5 pounds. Its not fair, but there it is. We have two choices. Stay the way we are, getting bigger and bigger every year, or once and for all get it off and get healthy. If that means fewer treats so be it. Life's not all bad, you can have one 'bad' day a week and still lose! Kathey, You have right to be proud. Since joining the group I find it makes me stay a bit more focused. I believe had I not been in this group i would have done quit. It seems like you said, everyone has been though it too and knows what I'm talking about. I can tell the truth here about how I'm feeling and not be judged harshly as most everyone has been though the same thing.some of us is gaining, some of us is losing.Some are maintaining.All of us are trying to do it in different ways. But one thing remains constant for all of us. We need to lose some weight. We need the moral support or I don't think we would have joined a support group.LOL But in the long run it is us to no one but ourselves to do the work and actually lose the weight. So in my opinion there is no such thing as a small victory or it was just 2 pounds loss. Each and every pound we lose or every day we get that small amout of exercise in is a big deal.We all get discourage and start to think we can't do it. I went though this stage myself this past week, but after we get time to reflect we must try and remember that the more times we allow ourselves to"quit" the more weight we are gonna have to take back off for a second time. I don't know about yall' but I'm putting in too much effort to lose this weight one time I sure don't wanna have to do it again. I do have news....I'm down to 252.6 Yipppeee! When I hit that 250 mark I'll be so happy and I think it will give me a bit more motivation. I still havent hit a smaller pant size yet which was my mini goal. It might be my imagination but my pants don't seem quite as tight on me. I can't tell any difference in my measurement though so it all might be in my head. I can never get my measurements to come out the same 2 times in a row so I must not be measuring in the same spot or something. I try and do it the same each time but that just isnt working for me.My pants was snug when I started this journey so its really hard to tell. But I do know I am losing. Slower then I had hoped but thats ok. I'm losing and as I told Tina...any loss is good. Shoot just not gaining is a major accomplishment! You all inspire me and I so enjoy hearing of your progress. Yes good or bad! So I guess I need to go and update my weight loss journal webpage sometime tonight.

I have gone to Weight Watchers in the past. I have the material. I wonder if I could do Weight Watchers on my own but still be able to do it my diabetes way that I was taught to do by my diabetic clinic. I remember that I had to write down everything then. There was also a place on the list for putting down your water too. I might check it out, but I wonder if it would be too difficult to do it both ways. Both the Weight Watchers and eating the carbs I need to eat for my diabetes. 340/293.9/275
