, thanx for this great info. There *is* some connection with

chronic lyme and metals...metals suppresses immunity, maybe it's

simply that or maybe something else too. Some bacteria sequester metals.

That's a heavy duty combo--EDTA plus DMPS IV? After seeing that guy's

reaction to EDTA in my doc's office, I am going to start sooooo slow.

I've heard of the homeopathic remedy. I can try to source it for you

and post the source. Others have responded well to it too.

Thanks for posting this. I'm very happy to hear that this woman has

been able to regain her health with this combination.

This is the first time I've heard of anyone combining glutathione in

the same infusion with the chelators. I think there would be some

binding between them, but apparently there was still enough extra

binding capacity to take out the heavy metals. That's a very

interesting approach. I would never have thought to do this,

because I would have been concerned that the two would just interact

and not go after the heavy metals, but apparently this is not the

case. Perhaps the reason is that the chelators bind the heavy

metals more strongly than they do the glutathione, so that in the

process of dynamic equilibrium that occurs chemically, the heavy

metals are preferentially bound by the chelators, and the

glutathione is there to pick up any stray heavy metal ions that come

loose, and take them out.

I think your doctor is pretty gutsy to try this, and I'm very glad

it worked. I suspect that he will probably try this on some others,

and I will be very interested to hear how it comes out.

THis is an interesting point, Rich, esp. since Dr. Haley is working on

some kind of glutathione-based chelator.

It may be both synergistic AND protective.

thanks for sharing this hopeful story. i have been tryig to

increase my glut levels over the past 3 weeks w/ iv pushes.

unfortunately the tx seems to make me even iller.

i am also holding on to a bunch of abx waiting to begin treament

again, but feeling that they do not hold the answer for me.

Hi all

I am certainly no doctor and I cant pretend to know much about lyme

disease or even chelation therapy.

But I have experienced a long, wonderful period of remission where I

believed that I was totally cured of my M.E. and was able to live a

very fullfilling and normal life for quite some time.

My fabulous remission period occurred

after two years of complimentary and natural therapies,

including homeopathy and aromatherapy, reflexology,

Australian flower remedies, Reiki healing and of course very healthy

eating, regular relaxation/meditation, drinking plenty of water etc,

etc,

but I must stress with no antibiotics or chelation therapy at all.

When I first began using natural therapies I became much worse

initially, but I persevered, and eventually began to gradually

improve.

within four months I had been offered a job working two days a week

for a couple of hours as a part time receptionist in the Natural

therapy centre where my homeopath worked.

I accepted the position because my employer said she would not mind

if I was not well enough to work at any time; I was not to receive

cash, but natural therapy sessions as payment.

Within the next year my improvement steadily increased, until finally

I too, felt as if I had 'more energy than I had ever had in my whole

life'; not surprising when you think about it with the enormous

releif I was experiencing!

I went back to my GP and cheerily announced I was 'cured'.

and my Gp said great, but she said nothing else.

She did NOT warn me that in the majority of cases, patients suffering

from CFS/ME/FMS type diseases can actually experience huge

improvements even up to near normality,

but they can still always set themselves right back by pushing their

limits too hard.

Meanwhile, believing that I had been 'totally cured'

I commenced- with much rejoicing- to live a full and happy normal

life again.

I went horseriding weekly for an hour to rebuild my muscle tone and

strength,

I went back to college to continue with my career as a fine art

painter,

I went on two glorious walking holidays per year in the mountains of

scotland, wales and southern Ireland.

I truly thought I was the luckiest woman alive.

all in all I went on like this for around 3 years thinking that I was

completely recovered.

Yet, still, four years ago I experienced a complete relapse.

I have been housebound ever since with no sign of improvement.

I no longer have money in the bank to pay for complementary

therapies.

My ME/CFS consultant tells me now,

that 'a small percentage of patients can sometimes experience

improvement up to near normality;

but they can still always set themselves right back by pushing their

In view of how angry I feel now with that General Practitioner who

did me no favours at all

by being either too ignorant -or did not have sufficient courage- to

warn me there is usually no such thing as 'complete recovery' from

illnesses of this type;

So you might be able to appreciate why now, I can never read any

stories about anyone who is 'miraculously recovered', without

worrying about them.

I always wonder, how long have they been feeling better for?

maybe as long as six months, even a year or two?

does that make them think they are completely out of danger?

Or are they still remembering to take proper care of themselves and

not to try to push their limits too hard?

It has been an extremely bitter experience for me.

Your point is well taken. I'm sorry that you went through this

experience. I think that there is a significant genetic

predisposition involved in many cases of CFS, and the genes will not

be changed by currently available treatments, so the predisposition

will remain, and if the load of stressors is large enough, or the

diet is insufficient to keep the level of glutathione up, the person

can drop back into the same vicious circle mechanism again.

However, I also think it is possible to climb back out of the

vicious circle mechanism again, too, but it may require finding out

what the genetic variations are and compensating for them

specifically.

I think it is possible, too. , if you got better before you can

get better again. I could be wrong but it sounds to me, not that you

have some innate vulnerability that just reasserted itself, but that a

latent infection flared up again.

HI ,

I too have had some good remissions over the past 36 yrs, but as you

will guess from that length of time the picture wasn't at all simple.

When I first had symptoms I had no diagnosis and so going into remission

for the first time I too assumed everything was going away (though I was

never 100%). Obviously once you have relapsed and remitted a number of

times you begin to realise the score. I have been substantially

relapsed since 1994 and think the only chance of a near normal life will

be as the result of treatment based on good biomedical research.

I am certainly no doctor and I cant pretend to know much about lyme

disease or even chelation therapy.

But I have experienced a long, wonderful period of remission where I

believed that I was totally cured of my M.E. and was able to live a

very fullfilling and normal life for quite some time.

My fabulous remission period occurred

after two years of complimentary and natural therapies,

including homeopathy and aromatherapy, reflexology,

Australian flower remedies, Reiki healing and of course very healthy

eating, regular relaxation/meditation, drinking plenty of water etc,

etc,

but I must stress with no antibiotics or chelation therapy at all.

When I first began using natural therapies I became much worse

initially, but I persevered, and eventually began to gradually

improve.

within four months I had been offered a job working two days a week

for a couple of hours as a part time receptionist in the Natural

therapy centre where my homeopath worked.

I accepted the position because my employer said she would not mind

if I was not well enough to work at any time; I was not to receive

cash, but natural therapy sessions as payment.

Within the next year my improvement steadily increased, until finally

I too, felt as if I had 'more energy than I had ever had in my whole

I commenced- with much rejoicing- to live a full and happy normal

life again.
