Guest guest
I dont' take it as cod liver oil. I take very small little caps of Vite D(3), and its 'from' fish oil, its not 'fish oil'. Its Vite D3. I take 3 of them in the AM with my Bfast and 3 with dinner, they are 400iu tiny caps. I get them from Swansons Vitamins, I just re-ordered and they were 2.02 for a bottle of 250. So for about 2.00 mo, I got rid of at least 50% of my pain and stiffness and no longer take Vicoden, or any other pain relievers. My liver is 'not' good and I can't take that stuff! Marcia Vitamin D3, was IBUPROFEN, etc., / Glucosamine " allergies " ? Macia, how do you take it? In capsules of cod liver oil (that's a lot of capsules!) or by skin application, or what? I'm still trying to " up " my dosage and wondering how people do it. Champaign IL > > I started taking about 2400mg vite D3 about a year ago and have been off all pain meds for almost that long now becuase of the D3, I'm amazed that so many think the vite D is dangerous and take all sorts of pain meds damaging to organs and systems. Anyway, it feels SO good not to need any pain meds anymore! > > Marcia > > This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. Guest guest
Is this drugstore fare...or online? I've never heard of Swanson. Thanks for the help, Marcia. Much appreciated. I've got to wrestle this beast to the floor and be done with it. > > > > I started taking about 2400mg vite D3 about a year ago and have been > off all pain meds for almost that long now becuase of the D3, I'm > amazed that so many think the vite D is dangerous and take all sorts > of pain meds damaging to organs and systems. Guest guest
They are online and I order from their catalogs. I think its swansonsvitamins.com or something like that, I'm sure you can google it pretty easy. Marcia Re: Vitamin D3, was IBUPROFEN, etc., / Glucosamine " allergies " ? Guest guest
Yes, I did find it, Marcia. Thank you. I will see about getting a catalog. I wonder if health food stores, or maybe someplace like GNC, might carry them anyway. Anyone know? Thanks again, Marcia. > > They are online and I order from their catalogs. Guest guest
I hve gotten them at Fred Meyers, our grocery/one stop shopping store, they have a health food section, they had it, it was 4 something a bottle there. So other stores will have it. I did not do as well on vite D3 that was not from fish oil tho, came in a larger capsule and was 1000iu per cap. I do better on the gel type D3 caps from fish oil. Guest guest
I'm confused, Marcia. Are the Swanson things the capsules that you do well on, or you do better on some other kind? I had just noted that they were more IU per unit. These cod liver oil capsules I've been gulping down are only 130 IU each, and to match your 2400 IU per day, that's something like 19 capsules...this is why I was asking about the ones you take. I will check around here, in town, to see who might have them. We don't have Fred Meyers, but we have other chains. I never got into the swing of things with ordering online because I stopped using plastic so many years ago. > > I hve gotten them at Fred Meyers, our grocery/one stop shopping store, they have a health food section, they had it, it was 4 something a bottle there. Guest guest
I'm confused, Marcia. Are the Swanson things the capsules that you do well on, or you do better on some other kind? they are a small gel cap that I take, but they are from fish oil, they also make a higher dose regular capsule thats from other sources, I don't do as well on. I use the 400iu caps from fish oil I had just noted that they were more IU per unit. Vitamin D is measured in IU's. These cod liver oil capsules I've been gulping down are only 130 IU each, and to match your 2400 IU per day, that's something like 19 capsules...this is why I was asking about the ones you take. Yes, we had this discussion before and I explained all this and I think thats when you decided to get cod liver oil, but I have no idea why. As I've mentioned several times, that is cod liver liver, what I use is VITAMIN D, (thats source is from fish oil). Ken, the listowner here and his family are doing well on 4000iu's plus (his list for this is CFSprotocol I think it is, you can read the archives there and learn a lot more about vite D and how it helps) and most the articles that have come out in the last year say up to 10,000iu's day is safe. We are taking far too little. I will check around here, in town, to see who might have them. We don't have Fred Meyers, but we have other chains. I never got into the swing of things with ordering online because I stopped using plastic so many years ago. Well, Swansons carries their own lines and the lines of many many other top notch companies products so you can take your pick if you want to pay more for them, they are still cheap really, I've tried other brands and I do just as well on Swansons and I have to watch my medical/supplement dollars carefully so I probably spend about 1/2 what I would from other sources for the things I get from Swansons. I'm sure you can find a brand of them at any health food store or online at any of the larger companies. I can't afford the health food stores prices myself. Many of them from online companies don't use plastic, many use glass bottles if that is your issue. These online companies carry the same lines you pay a lot more for in the health food stores. So I save money (and energy, dont' have energy to add one more shpping stop), its just easier for me to do it through the catalog or online. You don't have to try them if you have reservations, I was just trying to share because you keep saying that your pain levels are so bad (like mine were) and thats what cut mine in half or more, I know we had this discussion many months ago, I've got an awful lot going on in my life right now and won't have time to keep doing this discussion again and again tho. Good luck. Marcia
Guest guest
Well, I'm sorry, Marcia. I seem to have upset your equilibrium, and I certainly didn't mean to do that. I recall having a vitamin D discussion with mjh but not you, so my mistake. Again, I apologize. When I said I hadn't " used plastic in many years " I was referring to using plastic charge cards -- nothing at all to do with plastic versus glass containers. I don't charge things onto a plastic charge card -- I generally shop locally, directly and in person. > > > > I'm confused, Marcia. Guest guest
Re: Vitamin D3, was IBUPROFEN, etc., / Glucosamine " allergies " ? Well, I'm sorry, Marcia. I seem to have upset your equilibrium, and I certainly didn't mean to do that. I recall having a vitamin D discussion with mjh but not you, so my mistake. Again, I apologize. thats ok, but yes we did have this same conversation a few months ago. When I said I hadn't " used plastic in many years " I was referring to using plastic charge cards -- nothing at all to do with plastic versus glass containers. I don't charge things onto a plastic charge card -- I generally shop locally, directly and in person. Oh, thats great if it works for you, I can't afford not to shop at the discount online vite places and the things that help me most I couldn't get here locally anyway. Course with Swansons or any other mail order you can always mail a check in with your order too, you don't need to use 'plastic'. Vite D gave me the strength/energy to delve into my dental issues last spring and start unraveling the mess I have. Its given me enough endurance to do the one mile walk at night with my diabetic husb with no trouble now. Before the D it nearly killed me to make myself walk a mile, I was in so much pain after it I couldnt' bear it, my feet, legs, back, neck, joints, muscles you name it, all were screaming in pain. NOw when we get back I can stand on my feet and fix dinner and rarely use the heating pad and dont' take any pain meds at all anymore. Prior to it I was taking Vicoden for pain rec. by the rheumatologist, who I don't see anymore because I don't need those meds and I'm working on the dental issues now and finding the problems that need fixing. I'm having to take care of a lot of personal biz due to husbs unexpected job change, we are having to sell property, etc. I have a lot of responsibility right now so thats why its hard to repeat same conversations over and over, so I'm signing off to no-mail, well actually I already did. I need to get things taken care of and there just isn't enough time. The D, and NT Factor and the Bupleurum liver cleanse combo are the 3 most beneficial supplements I've done, started the NT and Bup. about 2 months ago and its added a lot more stamina to help get things done. My life is a mess from things piling up so many years. good luck if you try the D or if you dont' either way. Marcia
Guest guest
Not to beat a dead horse, but when you lose everything in life, you also lose your credit ( " plastic " ) and your bank accounts and checks. Losing everything means exactly that. It's gone; it's not an option. It's not that things " work " for me and/or my various whims in life. It's a case of having one's choices removed, so you do what you are able to do within your new constraints. Sort of like this disease. I thought this list was for people to help each other to the extent that they were able and to the extent and in whatever direction the person seeking help could accommodate or accomplish (within his or her " constraints " ). Forgive me again the loss of my memory for previous conversation about vitamin D3. > > > When I said I hadn't " used plastic in many years " I was referring to > using plastic charge cards -- nothing at all to do with plastic > versus glass containers.
