No offense intended to Dr. Schaller, but I've belonged to this list since its beginning and there have been numerous instances of people joining to just hype products and the question I asked has *always* been asked of these people by the long time members. Dr. Schaller - I thought your reply was unnecessarily snarky and unprofessional - you could've set me straight with more courtesy - enjoy your family weekend!! > advertising or PWC?? > > > > hi Jim - > > > > > >> Please email me off list and I will call you over the next week and we > >> can > >> chat about. Guest guest
All is well. We all have moments when we think ill of others. I misread folks weekly. I wrote a book on fathering 13 years ago and still have to apologize to my kids all the time. Agh.... The good news is they have never read it. Peace and Hugs, Dr. J advertising or PWC?? > > > > hi Jim - > > > > > >> Please email me off list and I will call you over the next week and we > >> can > >> chat about. Guest guest
Dear Jim, I knew when I looked at your website that you were a generous, dedicated, and outstanding physician. I want to express my gratitude to you for being a part of this list. P.S. I don't mind your spending time with your family too. Kind regards, Vickie
Guest guest
Dr. Schaller, I would like to thank you for your input here and tell you that I never thought that you were trying to " sell " anything. I, personally, am disappointed to see that you removed your link after your name, as I have enjoyed your website. Please don't let one person's misguided comment offend you or prevent you from being as much of a help as you have been. I consider myself blessed to have " stumbled " upon this board and the wealth of information presented here. I am curious, was the blueberry/pomegranate juice comment mostly a joke, or do you believe it to have medicinal qualities? Thanks again for your time, Dawn > > Thanks kindly,> > Dr. > At an undisclosed location, profession, websites and associations > > But I like blueberry/pomegranate juice..... But no stock in it. Yes, I think has some use but will not cure cancer. Guest guest
hi all - I'm getting mighty tired of getting bashed for asking what seemed to me to be a reasonable question. Looking at Jim Schaller's posts, I saw 3 websites listed, the first of which advertises treatments and products for sale for a couple dozen illnesses. He is board certified as a *psychiatrist*, not an immunologist, endocrinologist, etc. I have no idea what his training is and what makes him competent to comment on and (his word) " treat " patients online on CFIDS/FM, so I ASKED A QUESTION! Schaller's reply was that if he was ever publically criticized again, he would pick up his marbles and go home - that wasn't a very useful reply and simply encouraged me to question his motives more. Since when is it not allowed to ask a question on this list? because someone is an MD? It wasn't flippant, it was deadly serious. Would you all not ask the same questions (and more) of any doctor you saw in person? Some of his free advice conflicts with that given me by other docs and some appears to be out of date, admittedly a common occurence, but one that leads me to ask about credentials - what is so wrong with that? Has this list become a little dictatorship? Judith G
Guest guest
Hi Judith I like you and understand your concerns and i am also sur you will understand my point of view. i must say that i am happy to have him with us.I don't think his main concern is to 'sell' anything but even if it is i would like him to be on this list.He is very helpful, sharing opinons, open to discussions which not many Md's would like to do.I am thinking that it is not nice to treat a helpful person like this.If members were not interested at his posts they would not ask him questions and his notes would not get any attention. As long as he is someone who wishes to be part of the list and someone we can discuss things with, his credentials does not mean anything to me.Plus it is nice to have and MD on this list.Am MD who is ready to discuss the issues with patients.I actually think this is great. We need more MD's like that Best wishes. Guest guest
Jschaller: Hah!- IMO the processed juice is about equal to Kool-Aid. On a more serious note - there's alot of research on anti-oxidants/ phenols and the components in dark-skinned berries/fruits and their preventative possibilities for tissue damage from free radicals - and yes- even some forms of cancer. I did a calculation comparisom once of how much juice you have to drink to get the proper dose of the compounds needed to actually be therapuetic- and there's nowWaaaay anyone can drink that much juice in a day -or every day- it was over a gallon - So. IMO the best thing to take is the extracts or concentrated powder from a reputable standardized lab that can supply a COA (certificate of analysis). Of course there is no majic bullet - but if you do a search you'll see there's alot of research out there. Here's a taste (pardon the pun): Barb Food Chem Toxicol. 2006 Mar 13 Catalytic inhibition of human DNA topoisomerase by phenolic compounds in Ardisia compressa extracts and their effect on human colon cancer cells. de Mejia EG, Chandra S, -Mares M, Wang W.
