I thought you'd made a mistake--referring to Dennis Gersten as

Gersten--and then I found this: " ...Dr. Gersten MD, formerly

known as Dr. Dennis Gersten " at http://www.aminoacidpower.com

It seems strange that he would change his name.

Anyway, if anyone is considering seeing Dr. Gersten or setting up a

phone consultation, please back channel me first.

Hi, Sue.

Dr. Gersten told me that " " was his original given name, and he

has decided to go back to it. I don't know why he switched

to " Dennis " for a while. He was " Dennis " when I first met him on

the lists and at the Seattle AACFS conference five years ago. But

now he's " . "

Guest David Gersten

I just did an Internet search and stumbled upon comments about my name. There is some confusion. I'm Dr. David Gersten (MD). I was born Dennis Gersten, and hated the name even as a small child.  I legally changed my name to David in 2004, and never told anybody that I was going to change my name back to Dennis. That comment was part of a comment that shows up on this site. Everyone has reasons why they changed their name. Over a 15 year period nearly 150 people looked at me and said, "Nice to meet you, David."  I would correct them, until in 2003 I stopped correcting people. David is the Hebrew name I was given at birth, but it was a name that was never used by my family, and not one I shared with anyone at all.  By the way, my work has been in integrative psychiatry (with a subspecialty in interactive guided imagery) and nutritional medicine (with a sub-specialty in amino acid therapy).

Thanks for posting this clarifcation.  This site looks very interesting and I plan to spend time checking it out.

Hi Dr. Gersten. I read your page about amino acIds and CIGS. While I'm not positive I have CFS, I do definitely have chronic fatigue and a host of seemingly unrelated symptoms, signs and some abnormal labs. I have a pituitary prolactinoma, 4 - 6mm. I also believe i have structural/functional HPA axis dysfunction add a result of frequent and prolonged early childhood trauma.

Anway, am so sick now that i am desperate for help.  Desperate enough to travel to San Diego for a consult with a physician who will attempt a diagnosis/es  rather than handing me another prescription and then standing  up to indicate that my ten minutes are up.

My problems are  exacerbated by the fact that my former PCP treated my fatigue with psychostimulant  meds and  now my current PCP  thinks that's the way to go also because of some symptomatic relief. Even though i have told him that amphetamines make me very sick and that when I stop taking them (50 times now i guess), I become deathly ill for weeks and am still sick after two months abstinence. Right now i am on Vyvanse,  with much fear and foreboding, knowing  that I will have to stop again soon.

How can I arrange a visit or some type of consultation? I stumbled across thIs page looKing for your home page and waswas intrigued that you  took the trouble to correct the misunderstanding about your name.

Thank you sincerely in advance. I can be reached via eMail or text but I'm sure  I'm not allowed to leave personal contact info.  You could message me through my eBay account, maybe.  I have two, owensmar and onewomanjewels. I will continue to b you and contact you.

Sincerely,

Marsha Owens
