I agree Kim, it really hurt me too! I guess everyone is different as we have

learned. I didn't know that was an option to be knocked out!

My husband had to be knocked out to!! They just couldn't get it where it needed

to be. The bad part was that he had driven himself, so after being sedated he

needed a ride. So I had to get him, then the next day we had to go all the way

back to get his card -- & it wasn't really that close, lol. Now we know -- don't

drive yourself!

The tech that did my husband's manometry gave him sprite to open his throat

while she did the test. It worked!

How do they get you to swallow water if you are asleep during the test?

they woke me up after i guess i was out only for a few minutes. then they did

the test.. the test itself wasnt bad. just the insertation of the tube through

the nose was awful. or the attempt to put it in.. then they did the knock out

thing and woke me up to do the swallow.

I wonder the same thing. I had Manometry done again today, and must say really

hate doing it, but you have to sit up and drink small swallows of water and do

the same. You can't do that if you are sleeping.... although if they develop a

way to do so, sign me up!

That's exactly what they did with my husband - put him to sleep just long enough

to get it down, then woke him up for the test. Unfortunately it was also enough

that they wouldn't let him drive himself home, I had to pick him up.

Mannometry is the one test I never want to do again....... Talk about

unpleasant!

Tell me about it. Had one yesterday and my nose keeps bleeding... The things we

have to go through huh?
