Guest guest
Hi Everyone-- Now that I am 10 days out from my open Toupet fundoplication, I thought I'd send you folks a report about how things are going. I've been home for the last 3 1/2 days and am no longer taking ANY heavy-duty medication (just liquid Motrin--and not even a lot of that). I'm still very stiff and pretty shaky, but I can get around the house pretty well. I can even do some very, very light tasks, like paying bills and loading the dishwasher. My husband and grown daughter are still doing lots of caretaking for me, but not nearly so much hand holding as they were during the first 8 days after surgery. I can go for very brief walks and car rides. I'll be on a soft diet for weeks yet, but, I am very happy to report that even at this very early stage, I am able to eat better than I have in a long, long time! This whole business has been a considerably bigger deal than my 1995 lap myotomy, but, knock on wood, I think I have the hard part behind me now.
