Guest guest
Two years ago today right now I was being wheeled out of surgery. I had a Heller myotomy with a partial wrap done at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, by Dr. Randy Haluck; rhaluck@.... It was one of the best decisions of my life. I just ate a banana smothered in chunky peanut butter and a bowl of popcorn for breakfast and it all went down just fine with a drink! I went in too thin, not sleeping due to aspiration and spasm issues, malnourished and miserable in all aspects of my life due to a variety of issues. My surgery was the first big step on my road to physical and emotional recovery and I have ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS about doing it! I would do it again if needed...I love my quality of life now and appreciate every day that I can eat and sleep "normally". Four weeks from today I'll be in Aruba with the company I work for and I'm thrilled to go on this trip and be able to eat ANYTHING! I'll need to snorkel a LOT to work it all off! If you are considering surgery, I strongly recommend finding a very experienced laproscopic (if possible) surgeon who had done many Heller's. You won't be perfect again, but 93% of the time, you will experience great relief from your symptoms. Those are great odds.
