I too would like to know what straightened the esophagus so if you ever find out please let us know. Do you get use to taking the nifidipine so that it doesn't cause that awful headache. I know sometimes our bodies can adjust to meds after taking them for awhile. I watched them do an endocopy on me once too. Was very interesting to see. Keep us up to date and hugs to you too. I'm not sure if they are all the same as the one I had before, but they weren't bad so it looks like the worst one from December's endoscopy has healed considerably. I just need to be on an acid reducing medication for life now. He said my esophagus looked very good and I didn't have any of the twisting that I had previously. I am wondering if this could be from taking the Adalat (nifidipine) on a daily basis because I just started taking it again in the last couple of months and it really helps me with the esophageal spasms...or maybe the acid medication helps keep my esophagus healthy. I'm certainly not complaing, but I would sure like to know what it is that has reversed the twisting of my E and made it nice and straight again! Good to know that this is possible! All in all it was a good experience. I woke up at the end of the procedure when the doctor was doing the biopsy. It was very surreal. I was watching the monitor and listening to the voices around me telling me what was going on, but I hadn't quite realized where I was yet...I didn't feel anything down my throat and that was odd, but then while I was watching him do the biopsy, suddenly I felt a tug down in my E and that's when I put it all together that I was watching my own biopsy.....very strange feeling. I think I went back to sleep again afterwards and woke up about a half hour later in recovery and then they sent me home after Dr Gollapudi came in to talk to me....and I was awake enough to remember everything he told me......Oh yes, and he said that my esophagus was opened up at the bottom so the food should be going down. I have been noticing that soft foods like ice cream go down easier without any assistance, but I still need to force most everything down and it is still a struggle, but he said I didn't need another dilatation...don't want to go there again anyways! She said to buy a juicer and start making my own vegetable juice from raw vegetables. Cabbage is especially good for healing ulcers, but it must be raw vegetables and not cooked because you need the enzymes for the healing to take place! She also told me a book called "Vegetable Juices" to get authored by Dr. Norman . This book gives different juice blends for different medical problems. I take 60mg daily. It is a shame they found the 3 ulcers, but they might be healed when you have taken the acid suppressant for a few weeks. It will certainly give them the chance to heal and there should be no more acid doing damage, so that is good progress. It's amazing about the untwisting. That is such good news and brings hope to all of us knowing that such improvements can occur. Thank you Sandi, for sharing these details. I honestly thought about you many times yesterday, mainly, I admit, because I think that endoscopy is the worst of the procedures. But it is over now and I am practically as relieved as you must be.
