, glad to hear you're home and doing so well. Maybe

you will be one of the lucky ones who never have spasms

again.

Hope you will continue to improve and you'll be very happy

it's behind you.

Wow are you are first da vinci surgery? How exciting! Does it feel good to

swallow? Soon

soft foods and the weight loss will turn around. Rest up, but walk, walk, walk

to get that

lung back.

Congrats.

You had myotomy with the Da Vinci robot? Did it include

fundoplication or only the esophagus itself? Who is your surgeon

and where was the surgery done?

I'm looking for a surgeon for my 14-year-old son, preferably with

the Da Vinci robot, and especially if that means no stomach wrap

is needed. I'm prepared to drive halfway across the country or

more, as it doesn't seem that robotic surgery is available very

many places.

heller (lapro davinci robot)

Surprised they discharged me

less than 24 hrs post procedure. Dr.

Thinks procedure went extremely well; some

question of increased

reflex from barium swallow.

Altogether procedure not as bad as I had thought.

No memory of a good

hour before procedure nor three hours after

procedure.

my worst complaints at this time:

1. soar and stiff neck; very painful to lean my

neck backwards.

2. pain in shoulders; I understand that this is

from left over CO2 in

my body.

3. general pain and lightheadedness when I move;

not so bad when I sit

still.

4. very difficult to " inflate lungs

completely. " I do not feel like I

am starving for air; but I definitely feel like I

am not operating at

100%.

5. difficulty/ inablilty to clear my throught

properly/ cough.

I am very surprised that:

1. I have had (knock on wood)no spasms as of yet.

(I experienced very

bad ones after each of my two dialations) (maybe

my spasms are caused

by tearing and controlled cutting is not so

bad...?)

2. Although the insicions look nasty they are not

so painful. (worst

pain is in the neck and shoulders.

Had a low grade fever last night; but seem to have

lost it today. I am

fighting the pain and walking about with the hope

of getting the CO2

out of my body.

All in all no regrets as of yet; now I'd just like

to become

functional again and evaluate my swallowing and or

acid reflex on

something more substantial than chicken broth and

jello.

(this is now day 6 of clear liquids, and I am

thinking of rebelling

and having a campbells

soup.) Looks like I lost about 9lbs this week.

Lapro Heller with Partial anti reflex wrap. University of Michigan

Hospitals, Ann Arbor, MI. The surgeon is Chang; it is my understanding

that the davinci robotic device is preffered for myotomies here; it is

however, not always available due to high demand for it on several

other procedures. Good luck.

Great to hear you are doing so good!! I too, had that neck pain.

When you push on your neck, felt like I slept funny the night

before. Does it feel like rice crispies or like something is

poping?? I told the nurse about this and she called the doc, it was

something called Crepidous (sp) The co2 made it's way to my neck,

then a bit to my cheaks!! Kind of weird, but all the interns had to

come in to see me and push on my neck. Gotta love that attention

when you haven't showered and you have a big grease ball for hair!

-Hi ,

You are throught the worst. Take it slowly and let yourself heal. You

owe it to yourself, you've been through a lot. It will be woth it.

Take the food slow too. It is so exciting to try food and not have

all the horrid problems to get them through.

Happy recovery.

My neck was sore too and I had bruising under my jaw. It explained

that the aenaethitist needs to hold your head back firmly to allow

some pipes down your throat.
