Its HOT here in < It is actually hot and stormy here. 90 today. The humidity is really bad. It gets dead hot here too. We have days in the mid to upper 90's to 100 with high humidity. If it were not for the humidity it would not be so bad. I would actually like to live in a warmer climate though (during the winter). At least I would not freeze when the temps get to 20 below and horrible with chills! Never happy are we ;D Lee Ann

Irma , 12,DS/ASD.<<< It is nice here in the spring and fall. January and February are really cold. June - August can be very hot. My biggest gripe about living up here is the lack of sun in the winter time. It hits me about the middle of December and lasts until mid to late February. It is cold, dark, and dreary. It would be wonderful to move south that time of year! A lot of people actually do that when they retire. I have an uncle who runs a campground up here from Memorial Day - Labor Day, then he heads to Arizona for the winter. Sounds like a great plan to me! I do not blame you for not wanting to come this far north. I would much rather visit the snow than live in it! Tell your husband I am sorry for not being more supportive of his position! But I get COLD! I would miss having a white Christmas though. Lee Ann

Irma , 12,DS/ASD.<<< I am sure it is much more pleasant to be outside this time of year in Indiana than in Texas! My husbands cousin moved from Indiana to Texas and says she will never move back north. She said as long as you stay in the air conditioning during the really hot time of year it is much better than being stuck in the snow. There are many resources here in this area for the disabled. Chicago is not all that far away either. You can see specialists there. Indianapolis has a DS clinic also. will be going there this fall. Josh is doing ok. We saw our Ped last week and did his little hand thing and the doctor saw him. I asked him what he thought and he said Autism. So - that answer any doubt I may have had. Fortunately is not really bad but I know he is at that age where things can really start. So we are seeing another specialist in the area of Autism. But other than that is doing well. How is your son when you go out into public? Did he ever scream as you were shopping for groceries? fusses the whole time! Does it get better? But last winter was fun with all the snow we got (I KNOW I KNOW---easy to say now, since it was 95 here yesterday....LOLOL). But I do love the change of seasons. Always ready for the next one by the end of the current one, but the change is always so exhilirating. Living on the east coast, I bet you can guess my favorite season. yep, autumn. Donna<< Autumn is for sure my favorite time of the year! I love football and the smell of burning wood and wearing sweat shirts and the thought of Thanksgiving and Christmas....! I am strange but I play Christmas music in July. In fact, I just bought some Christmas gifts this week! I need to get a head start! I buy things and hide them and forget that I have them! The kids like it because they get a lot of gifts that way. I am going to make a list this year! With 5 kids we end up with so many gifts that we can not see the tree! Oh well, it is fun!! Guest guest
I love the Autumn weather up there . That is one of the seasons when we're up there visiting , you know its football time, Notre Dame. My husband had mentioned where you had lived , we drove by , on our way to Chicago . I'm pretty sure we'll be visiting again . Because my mother-in-law is not doing good . I know we have e-friends that had watch their grandma's or parents . Boy ! I got a taste of it , thats work from AM to PM . I guess my husbands family had a week off, while I was there . Glad to hear Josh's Ped . noticed the Autism . Never doubt , you know you're son . I have my son's Ped. & Neuro learning along with me . They were glad to hear what I've learned, so they are being very supportive . Whenever I have any questions to ask, for me to feel free to call them and they will be glad to work with me . We just had to put our heads together and work whats best for our kids . Next Medical Conference for Autism in the year 2002 , I've recruited them . I've had better luck with the Autism information then the DS . I do hope will receive some good care , its such a relief once you find some strategies once the diagnosis is discovered. Boy! Oh Boy! Did we ever deal with . did not just scream he always wanted to run or just sit and plastered himself to the floor at the grocery store . You say Josh is not really bad yet ! It will get better once you find results . This may be where the visual pictures may help him , it might cut his fussiness. This has helped , now that his behavior has been better. Luck with the Autism Specialist ! I still do alot of reading on behaviorial issues . That website is http://autism.about.com/cs/behaviorialissues/index.htm , which is my latest reading materials at this time . Take Care ! Luck with Josh ! Irma, 12,DS/ASD. Guest guest
Dear Lee Ann, I am going to be sending my very best thoughts, wishes, prayers for you and I can say that from everything people on this list have said, it will be a good turn of events, a coming-back to normalcy, swallowing smoothly, feeling the satisfaction of having food go where it ought to, and no more foam, etc. So, I'll be thinking of you a lot, with all best thoughts for a speedy recovery and excellent results. I will be going in for my myotomy on 25 January, so I am sitting here, paying very close attention to your surgery. I am rooting for you. It's funny how some people go home after two nights...I kept thinking that this was a three to four day stay but you know what, Lee Ann, I'd assume from a short stay that this procedure isn't that rough on us. Sandy from Northern Cal. told me that it's somewhat like the recuperation from a Cesarion surgery and I can relate to that (I've had two C-sections). I was tired afterwards but it got better and better in a very short while, oh, say, two weeks. That sounds just fine to me. And the lip balm sounds smart, too. So, great going to you! Wishing you a fantasticly short surgery/recuperation time/and excellent swallowing for the rest of your life! cheers, Deborah at the beach P.S. And, OH! The rain has cleared and it's gorgeous at Malibu right now! Anybody want to make a movie?!
