Update 2006,

VITAMIN B15 (pangamic Acid) is a water soluble antioxidant that works

similar to Vitamin E. The Russians use this to decrease the craving

for alcohol and protect the liver against cirrhosis. May not be

available in the United States. Natural Enemies: sunlight and water.

Best Sources: brewer's yeast, whole grains, sesame seeds, whole brown

rice and pumpkin seeds. No US RDA established.

VITAMIN B17 (Laetril) is a controversial compound (benzaldehyde and

cyanide) made from apricot pits and used in cancer treatment.

Unapproved by the FDA because of its cyanide content. Best Sources:

small amounts are found in apples, peaches, plums, nectarines,

cherries and apricots. Not approved by FDA because of cyanide content.

VITAMIN C (Ascorbic Acid) is a water soluble vitamin measured in

milligrams (mg). It is excreted quickly so it is important to take

time-release tables or take it three times a day. Vitamin C is an

antioxidant required for tissue growth and repair and adrenal gland

function. It aids in the formation of collagen, protects against

blood clotting and bruising, helps wounds to heal and aids in

interferon production. It is required for the metabolism of folic

acid, phenylalanine and tyrosine. Natural Enemies: cooking, heat,

light, oxygen and smoking. Best Sources: citrus fruits, green and

leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cauliflower, potatoes, sweet potatoes and

berries. US RDA 60 mg
