Guest guest
Hi Ellen, I have been scanning my Digest and must have missed when you first talked about Noah moving to a CILA. I am so happy for you all. I know how hard you have advocated for Noah and many others over the years. When will he move to the CILA? It sounds like a wonderful match for all the men. I will be watching for updates in the weeks ahead. He has been on PUNS as an emergency for close to two years. The house Noah is going in to is run by Anixter Center but is privately owned, by friends of ours who also have a son on the spectrum with very challenging behaviors. The two young men, and Noah, have known each other a long time. There is a third resident who was living in a large group home run by Anixter Center who wanted to be in a smaller setting. He was a great match because he is more independent and he has accommodated very well to the needs of his roommates. It was very, very lucky on our part that there was a situation well suited for Noah and that he was miraculously able to qualify for CILA funding. I think we were just in the right place at the right time. In my years of advocacy, I have seen these little miracles happen, but they don't happen often.
