Ruthie Marie Beckwith is the Microboards guru, right? I didn't know she was

also a writer, that's very cool, thanks for sharing.

I have been meaning to share my positive review of Ruthie-Marie Beckwith’s

first novel, Seven Days at Oak Valley. The link to the book on Amazon is above

and I encourage you to order a copy for your home library.

Set in 1978 at Oak Valley State Training School and Hospital in Tennessee, this

murder mystery kept my interest and touched my soul. The realistic experiences

in a state-operated institution saddened then angered me. However, the

persistence of the protagonist, Tony, a resident of Oak Valley provided me the

hope I needed to get through the stomach-turning segregation and abuse. This is

a fictional murder mystery that is set in an institution but under the skill of

Beckwith, the institutionalization moves beyond being the setting and becomes a

character in this moving story.

If this email finds it way to Ms Beckwith: Brava! Please, give us more. You have

found a powerful method for delivering our important message of the damage and

danger that exists in state operated institutions and the need for people with

intellectual/developmental disabilities to access home and community based

supports and services.
