Can anyone tell me about the rash for Fifth's disease? Does anyone know how it

differs from an allergic raction to an antibiotic?

Hi Bridget, With Fifth disease you get a bright rash on just the cheeks at

first. It can look like a slap. Then you get a lacy rash on the arms and

trunck of the body later. There is also a low grade fever with Fifth disease

which you usually do not get with an allergic reaction. Also when the child

is warm or flushed. Like when taking a bath it's more prominent and can also

recur after the rash seems to be gone,{which usually lasts about a week} when

they are warm. An allergic reaction is usually all over the body right away

and many times is hive like. Also doesn't usually last a week unless the

offending allergen is constantly reintroduced. I hope this helps!!!

Thank you ato all who responded about Fifth's Disease. I think I'll have to

take her in to determine this, but I'm pretty sure it is an allergic reaction.

It is very splotchy all over even on her jaw line, but not on the front of her

face. Luckily, there is no itching!
