Hi,

I live in Bklyn New York. we can see the smoke from the World Trade

center.

You can not get into or out of Manhattan. A freind of mine is a cop in that

area. He luckily left work at 8:10am. He was already near home, shopping

when he heard what happen. He got back in his car to return to work. I'm

also not too far from Kennedy airport. we are part of the flight pattern.

There are only military planes flying overhead. It is extremely quiet.

Everyone is wondering what is going to happen next.

's new ei school sent the kids home early and are calling the

afternoon session not to come in. My sons' school is staying home lettting

the parents take their children home if they want to. I left him there why

scare him..

Nothing happening out on the west coast so far, except for the closures of

some offices, shopping malls and amusement parks. No cars allowed on the

ferries of Puget sound. Mexican and Canadian borders closed, then the

Canadian border reopened on a limited basis, whatever that means. All

airports closed. And all of us fearful as hell. But you knew that.

I heard from a friend that another plane has gone down, in Colorado, but have

not heard anything on the news. Anyone know?

A coworker of mine is anxious to get through to her mom and sisters

in New York..she keeps hearing, all circuits are busy. She wants to

know if the schools are closed. She wants to know how the traffic is

and if people are panicking. Her family lives on Hinsdale Avenue,

near PA Avenue. Her mom is on dialysis and she is worried about her

needed medical care. Also, can you call within Brooklyn? Are you

near PS 245?

I did go back to work. Our county is on alert status. Tim's

facility is baracaded by jersey walls and tons of police around. We

have not closed schools or the county...our courts are still open and

hearing cases. Rts 7, 9 and 28 in Loudoun County are experiencing

rush hour early.

Checking in from the West Coast..... We are in San Diego, CA which is

thankfully pretty calm at the moment. So far we have received mostly

national news, but every so often we get a little snip of local. The many

military bases are all on an high alert status (threat-com delta), the

border checkpoints are at high security, and federal buildings, courts,

airport and some state buildings closed. Immigration has sent the long

lines of people home, telling them to return on Thursday. Many empolyees

that work in the high-rise buildings downtown are being allowed to go home.

Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World and other such parks are closed.

It's amazing how queasy I've been feeling this morning. I need to start

errands, but somehow going to Costco and the grocery store seems pretty

trivial..... I'd rather just stay home and hug the girls tight. I am

wondering how on earth to try and give some minimal information to my first

grader without shaking her secure little world..... hopefully she won't hear

too much at school.

I wondered how many of you have your children sent home? I called the school

but they were planning on staying. I'd just feel better if Ted was home but I

don't have a car. I was expecting 2 more children over today for child care and

that mom is staying home with them.
