Dear ; We are so happy to let you know that this group is well recognized, and is the only Regional Centre for Knowledge Management in Africa. It has 1.5 yrs from its establishment, for which we have shown great achievements. And this workshop will result into the creation of Communities of Practice(CoP). With the theme “Knowledge Management Excellence", the workshop is a dynamic arena where leading academics and industry professionals converge for learning and stimulating dialogue addressing KM Excellence and KM as a foundation of innovation. Workshop Outcome Understanding Knowledge Management Concepts Understand the role of knowledge in organizational success Understand the

relationship of knowledge management to other initiatives such as Total Quality Management and Business Process Reengineering Learn the fundamental concepts of knowledge management and relate them to their own activities Learn about a process model of knowledge management and how to apply it in practice Relate existing practices within their organization to 'world class' practice, based on insights into the activities of knowledge leaders Evaluate the different mechanisms that can be used to improve knowledge development and sharing Assess systems and skills requirements and consider ways of filling the gaps Develop a framework for initiating knowledge management in their own department and in the organization as a whole Be aware of success factors and what pitfalls to avoid Develop an initial plan of action. Will be the formation of Regional Communities of Practice(CoP) *** Total Attendance The total attendance at the workshop will be restricted to only 30 people to maximize interaction and learning. Target Group The workshop is targeted primarily at public and private sector professionals and senior managers that see Knowledge Management as critical to the innovative process. Including, but not limited to: Principal Secretaries, CEOs, Commissioners (i.e. RCs, DCs, RPCs, etc.), Program Coordinators, Researchers, Engineers, Managers, Consultants and other interested parties. We expect to have participants from 15 countries in Africa. Application Deadline Application deadline is set to be January 15th 2007 Dates, Venue The workshop will be held at Golden Rose Arcade Conference Centre, Arusha-Tanzania from February 12th

-16th, 2006 Participation fees The participation fee is set to be US$ 410 (Tsh 490,000/=) covering the workshop expenses (Registration, course Materials, and Lunch). Participants are to cover their accommodation and subsistence costs.
