UNICEF is launching a worldwide campaign, Unite For Children - Unite Against Aids, to help these children. The campaign will be launched today in New York. The campaign targets Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia. Every minute of every day, says UNICEF, a child dies of AIDS and a child becomes infected with HIV. It is a tragic story, says UNICEF. 95% of AIDS orphans never get any medical assistance at all, most of them receive no financial support. Goodwill ambassadors ( Bond) and Jemima Khan will be assisting in the campaign. The aims of the campaign include: -- Preventing mother-to-child transmission of AIDS -- An education programme on how to protect yourself -- Getting medical help for infected children Rates of HIV infection are growing faster in Eastern Europe and Central Asia than anywhere else. In both these areas three-quarters of HIV infected people are under 30. Source : Health News
