Guest guest
Hi Everyone I went to the GP today with lots of information to give him on the links between high blood pressure/hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia/ hypothyroidism and T3. I was ready to do battle to get my referral after nine months. I was resigned to not getting one on Sheila`s list(NHS cuts) but hoped for a local one. I was greeted with`oh you`ve come about the thyroxine`I was puzzled because I`d actually come at his request, a month on, to get my blood pressure checked on new medication, but I was going to use the opportunity to discuss the referral etc. He then shows me a letter from a local endo he had consulted who said some people do not convert and suggested he prescribe 5mcg of T3 with a blood test in 6 weeks!!!. I was `blown away`, he really took the wind out of my sails it was so unexpected. I am picking up the T3 on Monday as the local pharmacy have to order it in. I have to decrease the thyroxine to 50mcg,but there were no dosage instructions for the T3 but I know what to do I told him about the `double whammy` of being chronically hypo and it causing high blood pressure over time, together with Thyroxine also raising blood pressure. With low basal temperatures which I have,it almost always comes down with T3 apparently. He was very interested in that and will wait to see what happens. All new territory for him.I had the printouts for him and I wanted him to read them but again he said, he wouldn`t/couldn`t read them because he works 8am to 8pm each day, does not take work home as he wants family time, but thanks for the thought anyway! It`s no wonder we end up doing all the research and updating for them for them, is it ? All comments welcome Chrissie
