If it were me - and I was faced with this- I would clean up the liver. The liver is important in your immune function, thyroid function, hormone balancing, digestion ... the list goes on. You might as well clean up the source rather than piling on a medication (T3) to desensitize the receptors. It doesn't fix the underlying issue and the chances of you having to deal with it again are great.

Two options

New labs show high RT3, but decent Frees. I have Hashimoto’s. Mostly I feel pretty good, but I have dry eyes/mouth, and am often tired, probably due to being shortchanged in the sleep department regularly. I take 125mcg synthroid, 20mcg cytomel, 12.5 iodine, supplements, probiotics, omegas, lotensin (blood pressure), ambien, estrodiol patch. In the past, Armour gave me migraines.I have two options, and am not sure which direction to go: 1. continue with my current thyroid meds and work on liver to reduce RT3OR 2. Reduce (or eliminate) T4, increase T3 to reduce RT3Here are my labs:Free T3 – 3.6 (2.0-4.4)Free T4 - .47 (.82-1.77)Iron – 102 (50-170)TIBC – 349 (250-450)IRON SAT – 29% (15-50%)Ferritin - 107 (8-252)Estrodiol 43.5 (doc says 80+)Progesterone .3 (doc says 10+)Vit D – 83 (32-100)Sodium – 138 (135-153)Potassium – 4.2 (3.2 – 5.3)Glucose 90 – (70-110)SGOT/AST – 14 (10-38)SGPt/ALT – 35 (21-62)Triglycerides - 198 (<159) High – used to be way higherCholesterol 152 (0-200)HDL – 37 (>50) LowLDL 115 (<130)VLDL – 39 (7-27) HighWould you suggest either of my choices, and why?

Option 1 has been successful for some.

Option 2 has made some people worse. Read a different viewpoint here:
