Guest guest
My friend had some new thyroid tests recently and here are the results: THYROID AUTOANTIBODIES - High - 35.9 (Range 0.0 - 6.0) FREE T3 Serum - High - 6.4 (Range 2.6 - 5.7) SERUM FREE T4 - 14.5 (range - 9.2 - 24.5) SERUM TSH - Low - 0.0l (range 0.20 - 4.50) She is taking Armour, so the TSH is suppressed. She is a patient of Dr Peatfield, so will discuss the results with him. However, I thought I would post what her GP said. The GP is insisting that my friend does not have Hashimoto's, despite the high antibodies. The GP insists that she has Graves disease (because of the low TSH?) instead. My friend has told the GP several times that taking a T3-containing treatment like Armour suppresses the TSH, but the GP just can't seem to take it in. The GP says that Graves disease can be accompanied by high antibodies. Is that the case? Or does it just mean that you can have both Graves and Hashimoto's simultaneously? I thought that the presence of antibodies confirmed Hashimoto's, but maybe I have misunderstood? Thanks, Miriam
