Guest guest
Hi and everyone Have you seen this article - http://www.surgeons.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Research/ASERNIPS/ASERNIPSConsume\ rInformation/Spinal_cord_stimulat.htm? This is Australia's leading independent surgical review board. My advice remains, please go with the best surgeon /anaesthetist you can. It now seems like my recovery post surgery months ago was instantaneously after tweaking by ANS. I am now off almost all of the medications that I was on before implantation and am almost pain free on my old routine. I am really looking forward to beginning pacing to increase my activity safely. Unfortunately, recent major abdominal surgery has slowed things a little, but I am now more hopeful than in a long time. After 6 years of hell on medications, I am starting to think that maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know that a lot of people have had poor experiences with surgeons and SCS companies. I found a medico's who had no financial interest in me having a stimulator and who is a leader in the field in my country. I think I had 5 opinions in total over 5 years, not all in agreement, but good advice all the same. If those who don't have a financial interest think that it is worth a try, then see the best surgeon/anaesthetist you can no matter where they are located. This is what I did and I travelled interstate for the appointments and each surgery. It was the best move I could make. I have never met such kind specialists whose only interests seemed to be to help me. I hope that it is this way for everyone. But if you smell a rat, then chances are it is a rat. We are all so vulnerable and so easy to be abused. I was scared that I might let myself be further harmed and that this time it would be my fault because I agreed to the surgery. I spent 5 years after SCS was first suggested before I finally made a decision for the trial. I did not trust those first suggested for the surgery and finally found a very conservative physician who suggested I give it a go, one of the top in his field in Australia. Please keep trying to find someone you can trust for that opinion and another for the one who does the trial. warm regards
