Guess I'll post my big list of links for those who would like to look into this.

We did NACD at first, now doing ICAN (Hope and a Future) with Kane.

THe knowledge I've gotten from these has been invaluable to me in working with my daughter.

My son is on an ND program through ICAN. I believe they are the

same as NACD -- just a different organization. I know my

neurodevelopmentalist used to work for NACD, and has since started

her own organization -- ICAN.

Anyway, I love it. Next to a nutritional intervention of some

sort, I feel it is the most important thing I can do for him.

My son started a program at 4 months old -- because that was the

soonest I could get him in!:) I read Glenn Doman's books, and

bought a number of his encyclopedias on ebay, and started my

own " program " with him right away -- like maybe when he was a month

old. The brain is an amazing thing -- but the window is small for

it's maximum growth. For anyone, not just kids with DS. I have

learned so much that I do program stuff with my other 3 boys who are

quite bright already.:)

I am so thankful to have an ND working with us, because they know of

which they speak, and I don't have to fumble around trying to make

sure that my son is moving forward, and if he stops, try to figure

out why... It takes some of the pressure off.

Doing a program is for sure a commitment -- both of time and money.

It takes 2 hours a day to get through all of his program -- and he's

six months. My nephew is developmentally delayed, and also started

a program -- his takes 4 hours a day if the whole thing gets done.

So...it does take effort on the parent's part for sure. But...you

know. We are all " therapizing " our kids anyway. It just helps for

me to have direction...

That's my 2 cents anyway!!

BTW, all this talk about different ways to supplement our kids has

me wearing out the printer. It is nice to know that there are other

alternatives if I run into problems with NVD.:)
