Guest guest
The chemical that is the main medicine in the generic and in the name brand should be the same. However, the other non-drug stuff may or may not be the same. That could be what is causing your problems. One time I was given the generic version of the birth control pill I was on and I had some weird side effects. Turns out the source of one of the hormones was different in the generic and for whatever reason, despite being the same hormone, it caused side effects where the name brand didn’t. Is there anyway your doctor can write the prescription so the name-brand is cheaper? Or does your plan have a way to buy maintenance drugs for cheaper? Some plans allow you to order the drug online and get 3 months worth for 1 copay. I’m gonna stick with the name brand… K. Generic Flonaise Ever since I started taking the generic flonaise my nose has steadily gotten worse. The polyps are getting bigger. Is it possible that the generic is not chemically the same as the name brand. It makes me mad cause the generic is only 10 bucks where as the name brand is 30 bucks. Anybody else have the same experience with it?
Guest guest
The generic I got is made by the same pharmaceutical house that makes Flonase. Perhaps you got a counterfeit drug? Cheers, Karl W. Guest guest
Weird, my normal email appears to not be working... if this shows up again on the list, I'm sorry! The chemical that is the main medicine in the generic and in the name brand should be the same. However, the other non-drug stuff may or may not be the same. That could be what is causing your problems. Or maybe the drug is made differently. One time I was given the generic version of the birth control pill I was on and I had some weird side effects. Guest guest
The packaging looks the same but the color is different. The Flonaise came with a green cover and the generic is orange. I guess I'll just have to pony up the extra 20 bucks and get the name brand. I guess you get what you pay for. > > The chemical that is the main medicine in the generic and in the name > brand should be the same. However, the other non-drug stuff may or may > not be the same. Guest guest
I stopped taking the generic Flonaise and just decided to rely on irrigation and aspirin. The polyps are slowly starting to shrink again. Thats good. The less medicine the better. - In samters , " tex22_us " <tex22_us@...> wrote: > > Ever since I started taking the generic flonaise my nose has steadily > gotten worse. Guest guest
, I irrigate every morning around 6:00 a.m. right after my workout because the workout helps open my nose up. Why? I have no idea but its better than using Afrin. I have a water pic with the Grossan nasal attachment. I use 2 cups of distilled water that I cook in the microwave in a 2 cup measuring cup for 50 seconds ,any longer and its too hot. I mix in one teaspoon of kosher salt because it says on the label that salt is the only thing in it . Sea salt has an anti- caking ingrediant in it that irritates my nose. I also put in a half a teaspoon of baking soda. I stir up the 2 cup measuring cup that I zapped it in until the water clears up. I then pour it in the water pic and irrigate both nostrils back and forth till I run out of the mixture. I do this in the kitchen sink looking down at the drain. This way you dont get water running down your neck and chest and on the floor. i have heard that some people have problems because they want to look at themselves in the mirror while they're doing it as if they were brushing they're teeth. I then run a small amount of distilled water through the water pic to get the salt out of the machine. I take a 325 mg enteric aspirin at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat some food, take the aspirin and then finish the meal. I like to make sure even though its enteric that it has alot of food around it. Probably doesn't make any difference. I then irrigate again at night about 30 minutes before I go to bed so i can get most of the water out of my nose before I hit the sack. That's about it. Guest guest
Thanks a bunch for the detailed Explanation! Did you have an alergic reaction to the asprin? My doc want to do a asprin desensitization and says he has to have me go to the hospital for this. I hurt my back last year and tried some Advill, the reaction was not fun. But it was over in 20 min. and I was fine. Did you desensitize yourself? Thanks, > > > > > > > > Ever since I started taking the generic flonaise my nose has > > > steadily > > > > gotten worse. Guest guest
Yes I did the desens on my own. The best thing to do is go to message 7643 and read all the messages about aspirin desensitation after that. I told about my experience doing it at message 7768. You'll have to decide for yourself if you want to risk doing it on your own. It can be very dangerous. If your doc knows about it, you probably should do it with him. None of my doctors have ever heard about it so that's why I did it on my own. > > > > > > > > > > Ever since I started taking the generic flonaise my nose has > > > > steadily > > > > > gotten worse.
