Guest guest
> That is just what I am going to do on Monday, plus taking the two boxes of thyroxine. My previous GP promised allergy tests, but never did. Having already had problems with antibiotics I would have to decline them, and will suggest he gives me an inhaler instead. > Kathleen > Kathleen, a while ago, I had a very bad experience with an unknown generic Levothyroxine, which was dispensed in a brown tablet pot. I felt as though I had gone without for half the week even though I had taken the tablets and only for two days. My consultant did agree that there can be differences between them and stick with one you know and trust. I also completed the yellow card to report the ill effects. A maker I know and trust is Actavis, also packaged with Lloyds on the box. I request this when I go to Lloyds pharmacy for peace of mind. These tablets that I use are anyhdrous levothyroxine sodium by the way. Other ingredients are lactose, magnesium sterate, maize starch, stearic acid and pregelatinised maize starch. I include those other ingredients for your reference if you get to the bottom of your allergy trouble and manage to work out either at the GP or elsewhere what you should avoid. Needless to say they do contain Lactose and there are many people who are lactose intolerant and lactose does exist in many tablets. So I have no idea if you have Lactose intolerance, but would have thought you should get that clarified. Clearly I am sure I would know if that was the case for me. What surprised me was that I don't class myself as somebody who has food allergies and intolerances or trouble with medications generally, but yet I had that bad experience. So if it works out you are not lactose intolerant but need anhydrous tablets, have you tried Lloyds/Actavis Levothyroxine before and were OK with it? OR perhaps you cannot remember and only remember the one that gave you the trouble? I hope this helps. Fiona.
