Substances in peanuts, untoasted soya flour, and vegetables of the cabbage family

can combine with iodine and prevent it's absorption.

All of these foods increase iodine requirement.

If vitamin E is deficient in the diet the absorption of iodine by the thyroid

decreases to 5% of normal.

Giving adults 500mg of vitamin E has caused the thyroid glands to absorb twice

as much iodine and the protein bound iodine in their blood has increased to

normal.

A high protein diet speeds the activity of sluggish thyroids by supplying the

aamino acid tyrosine from which the thyroid hormone is maDE. thyroid cannot be

used without B6,and C,nor can the hormone be made without cholin. THYROXIN

itself IS inactivated by oxygen if Vit C

is not present.
