Guest guest
Hi , If I were you, I'd go to another doctor. Something just doesn't sound right with your patient-doc relationship with Dr. Salky. Even though he has a good reputation with A, I would go to someone else. Be thankful that you live in an area where there are a few choices within a couple of hours drive. Many of us aren't that lucky! Guest guest
Mmm , I don’t know about that. Botox has never been proven to work for every long, myotomy is the only thing that is proven to work for any length of time and those of us who have had them, know sometimes they don’t last very long, me being one! I had a bad Heller done in 2000 then an open myotomy in 2002 now I’m looking at going back in May for something else, I’ve already been stretched once since then. I know I have scar tissue and we all know that doesn’t stretch very well and when it does it causes more scar tissue, I believe that’s what I’m faced with now. Just my .015 I’m working up to .02 From: achalasia [mailto:achalasia ] On Behalf Of Bartolino Sent: Monday, February 06, 2006 7:53 PM achalasia Subject: Dr's visit Went into the city saw Dr Fowler Very nice answered all my questions Has me down for surgery Mar !st Wants me to go to his GI for some tests And he thinks the GI should give me a shot of botox Why ??? If that works then surgery is sure to work Mind you I have scar tissue from a balloon dilation that went wrong and a Heller that did not work I told him about more scar tissues??/ Well might be but still suggests it I say NO way what do you all think?? Guest guest
He knows it won't work for long He wants to use it as a test To see if that opens the LES Then do surgery a week later?? -- RE: Dr's visit Mmm , I don’t know about that. Guest guest
Ohhhh how I love when people ASK for my opinion.... , I remember you from a few years ago. My advice: Run run run as fast as you can. I would still LOVE for someone to tell me why botox doesn't scar foreheads??? Maybe different kind of muscle???? It does seem illogical it scars the les and not the forehead. But it seems unanimous among those who are experts not to do botox, unless you are of an age or condition that surgery isn't a good idea. Guest guest
Hi, Sherri, I posted this message from you in the storage group in the files section under the Dumb, the Bad, & the Evil......in the Dumb folder. If you mind, I will remove it. I just thought it was worth being stored. I hope others will join the group, and when they have a message or information that will help others in the future, they will store it in the Files section. If the correct folder is not yet established, people can create their own folder on the subject. It might take me a day or two to add the privleges to your membership, but I will get it done!!! I already changed the members that have joined so they can add folders and other things. Guest guest
hi it's Jill, Went to dr on Friday and got results of bloods taken on 5th feb ( I already knew these as friend's husband was able to access them )..he said as LH was 3 times FSH was in his his mind PCOS and would treat with Metformin if necessary without even considering other possibilties or could be something else ( although I do know could be possible ), or fluctuating TSH levels and one abnormal TPO...I asked him three times during course of consultation for a referral to endo which I think he is going to do rather reluctantly..I mentioned my Raynaud's ( or suspected ) and asked was a specific test that needed to be carried out and he said was test for rheu athritis..??!! I thought tests slightly more scientific..? Raynaud's runs in the family, and the anaesthetist that administered my epidural when having fist child thought I had it, and also consultant that carried out endo/colonoscopy ( re IBS ) mentioned it too, in fact he thought he it quite spectacular ( his words, not mine!! )..So GP put in referral field for blood test nurse " test carried out as patient thinks she has Raynaud's " ..!! has anyone been through any of the tests supposed to be carried and if so what ones..? I know of a fingernail test..I can sense now that the GP is getting fed up with my persistence and recurring visits to get an explantion for these symptoms..I am also flabbergasted at how GP's can be so flippant..!! Guest guest
Hi Jill - yes, I have been through the Raynauds tests - this was before I was diagnosed as suffering with hypothyroidism. My feel and hands used to go a horrible shade of grey/navy and when pressed would leave a white mark which took a long time to vanish. At the hospital, they ran a 'doppler' machine over my feet to see if it could detect a pulse. He did this for ages, and couldn't get a thing. He ran my hands under hot water and then cold water to watch what happened to their appearance. That was about it. He diagnosed me with Raynauds and told me to stay away from fridges and freezers and not to go down the aisles in supermarkets where they kept all the frozen stuff. Then I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and started in levothyroxine. I remained pretty blue and cold for about 4 years until I started on Armour Thyroid. Been taking Armour for almost 6 years and I'm as rosy as the next man (or woman). I have never suffered this coldenss or blueness since. Perhaps you too might not be suffering with Raynauds, perhaps it is your low metabolism that needs treating with thyroid hormone replacement - just like me. Luv - Sheila So GP put in referral field for blood test nurse " test carried out as patient thinks she has Raynaud's " ..!! has anyone been through any of the tests supposed to be carried and if so what ones..?
