Colleen and Jeanine- I started the South Beach diet three days ago. I think

it's not really that hard. (I did something similar 1-1/2 years ago and lost

25#) I feel satisfied, and the cravings do vanish. I've lost 3 lbs since

Tues.

Thanks Jeanine & Carol! Everyone that's emailed me said they lost an

average of 20lbs. in the first month. That's what I want to get rid of.

No Carol, the cravings have gone away easy for you in the first 3

days. Are you a sugar addict though? LOL! I live for candy & ice

cream, that's my main food group! is going to do the diet with

me too.

It should be ok, if the guild lines fall in the BFL ratio's such as a fist size

of protein, fist size of carbs, and some veggies. If there are any sauces, they

are probably low in carbs, but watch your calories. Especially since on BFL you

eat 6 times a day. I don't know about SB, but the calories could be higher on

the meals, you may need to cut them in half. But, I see it being a problem.

Okay, So I have read the post about the south beach diet meals;

however, I was wondering.... I have a south beach diet cookbook would

it be safe to assume those meals are okay for BFL?

Thanks,

South Beach is very close to BFL, so is The Zone. Most recipes from

those two programs will work. Just keep in mind that not all of the

recipes are for complete meals. Sometimes they include recipes for

desserts or salads or side dishes. They're healthy authorized foods

but it's up to you to balance them with the right protein or carbs for

BFL. You also need to keep an eye on the portion sizes.

I liked the SBD. If I remember correctly, it had a lot of meat, fish and stuff

rolled in lettuce

leaves. Yum.

I imagine you could combine the two. Just remove the avoids from the menus and

replace

with bennies or neutrals.

We all Know I am no expert on anything but It is funny, my mother has been

jamming south beach down my throat forever, and I told my husband just the other

day that I did not find too much difference other than the avoids!!! (bacon,

artificial sweetner, etc...) SouthBeach acutally reccomends leaner cuts of beef,

lots of veggies, no sugar, dairy, or breads unless whole wheat(which is an avoid

for us) but I think it is safe to say no, not much diff other than the avoids.

LOL--that's stark enough. Avoiding the avoids and eating beneficials is what

the diet is all about.
