Sense of Smell and Iodine Use

Well, I guess no one can relate to my previous e-mail. My sense of

smell has been heightened all day long and the only thing I did new or

different was to start the Iodine.

Not sure about the logistics of how or why, but I can only surmise its

related to the Iodine.

I'm very new to this, as I have only been taking iodine for two weeks.

(Which is why I didn't answer sooner.) But I can tell you that my

urine has been horribly smelly the whole time, and some of the bromine

detox symptoms mention body odor. Could that be what you are noticing?

Hi Vj, I don't know much about all this but I do know that when my

thyroid first went haywire I lost my sense of smell (have some but

very little). I quit smoking at the same time and usually, quiting

makes your sense of smell better, not worse. So perhaps, your thyroid

is functioning much better, hence, the better sense of smell?

I really don't know, but the improvement in the sense of smell was almost instantaneous. It'll be interesting to notice changes, if any, over time.

I'm not sure since this is so new to me, also. If it is bromide detox, it was almost instantaneous. Thanks for sharing the urine report; it helps to know commonly reported experiences.

Val, I have noticed sometimes that my body sort of anticipates a good

thing with some immediate response like that. Maybe at a homeopathic

level all you need is a whiff. Then I have to let all that work down

to the physical level. Maybe someone will understand what I am talking

about, hopefully.

I'm not noticing a smell. What does iodine smell like? I'm on

Iodoral, I don't have a smell associated with it. (Now Selenium --

STINKY!)

What I *have* noticed, is that my urine is VERY pale now. I was

expecting it to be darker, or at least yellower, and it's a bit

disconcerting that it is nearly clear. I'm not drinking any more than

usual. Just a weird observation.

The sense of smell is related to the liver function.

People who suffer from cirrhosis often lose their sense of smell.

This enhanced sense of smell may be a sign that your liver is working more than

usual. For detox after taking iodine for example.

This happened for me too and was transitory. Went away as soon as I drank water

+ freshly squeezed lemon.

Hope this helps!

Best wishes for your health :)

As my thyroid is healing with Iodine and Armour, my sense of smell has improved dramatically. A diminished sense of smell is a hypo symptom.

Interesting...I'd never heard that about smell and hypo. Thanks for sharing. I just took my second dose a few minutes ago (20 drops/2%/50mg in a glass of water, and felt a tingling sensation in my throat, a concentrated awareness in the thyroid area.

Hope I'm doing it right.

I also have a heightened sense of smell when I have used iodine

recently. I thought it might be from a positive effect on my chronic

sinus issues.

Isn't it amazing?! I'm not experiencing excessive "iodine" smells like the first day, now just an overall increase in smell sensory which I don't mind at all.

Last night (3rd day) I did experience some uncharacteristic wakefullness. Will see what tonight is like; I took the same amount of Iodine this morning--50 mg.>> Well, I guess no one can relate to my previous e-mail.
