A comparison of the sensitivity of flow cytometry and bone marrow biopsy in the detection of minimal residual disease in chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Maloum K, Charlotte F, Divine M, Cazin B, Lesty C, Merle-Beral H. Service d'Hematologie Biologique, Hopital Pitie-Salpetriere, 47 Boulevard de l'Hopital, 75013 Paris, France. helene.merle-beral@.... We compared the sensitivity of bone marrow biopsy to blood flow cytometry in detecting minimal residual disease (MRD) in 29 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in clinical remission after treatment. These results demonstrate that flow cytometry is more sensitive than bone marrow biopsy in detecting MRD and in predicting relapse in CLL.
