Guest guest
Lilla here, O- non, what info are you looking for? I guess for support I could say simplify. My diet actually seems to be quite easy now that I'm used to it. And it works. I'm finding *simple* foods taste just as great as *fancy* foods. And I'm quite satisfied with meat and vegies. I hardly miss the cheese anymore (well...'cept a little BG ). My big treat of the day is a glass of organic, with no added sulfites (some are naturally occuring) red wine. I have it right before dinner and it is like a ritual almost, relaxes me from a hard days work. Fruit is another special treat for me these days, as I'm in weight loss mode and it's too many carbs if I eat much fruit. I look forward to the days when I can have fresh or dried pineapple, peaches and blueberries (yum!), oh and I've found out I actually love prunes, plums, figs and pumpkin seeds! So, I guess what I'm saying is try out all the variety of beneficial and neutral foods you CAN have, simplify, and the longer you do it, the better and easier it gets. And you and your body adjust and eventually you start feeling better and you think in terms of eating to live, rather than living to eat, in a sense. I also apply some food combining methods which seems to help my digestion out. It's a process of figuring out what works for you--mentally, physically, emotionally. I'm just grateful I have a list from Dr. D to help me out! Bye for now...... Lilla Who are the Non-Secretors who subscribe to this list? Guest guest
Hi Tom, There may be more people, who are non-secs, but don't know yet. Still, the number will not grow tremendeously as non-secs are only about 15-20% of the whole population. Anyway, I have counted six people now, I think we can fit in this list very well without the need of separation. We know about each other and we will find each other! Lilla's summary is very good, the essence is to go for highly beneficial and neutral natural foods and learn to enjoy them. I hardly ever go to the supermarket, I do most of my shopping at the market / my organic meat source shop. If you don't expose yourself to seeing avoids, you are not tempted to buy things you don't really need. For health issues, you can find a lot of info for non-secs on the basic web site, dadamo.com. I will have to visit it again to give you the links, but I'm sure you can find them, too. A lot of questions seem to remain questions, but ask and we'll try to work out as much as we can ! Guest guest
The Live Right list, which you are on, is for everyone, but with a heavy emphasis on issues of non-secretors and the other factors from the complete blood serotype (M, RH, , 1 or 2 for A and AB, etc.). Guest guest
Thank you Rose and everyone else who responded. My idea on having another group was never to replace this group. Instead I thought it might help to have another group where Non-Secretor issues could be raised and discussed in their own forum. I may start the group, but I still am on 5 other different D'Adamo-related that I always want to be on. Also wanted all of you to know that things are actually pretty smooth for me as far as my eating is going. In 1996 I began a journey toward health and eating right knowing that there would be failures as well as successes, but even if the progress was two steps forward and one step back (or sometimes even two steps back) I decided I would persevere and learn what was true and right. At this point I am very proud of the fact that I eat primarily for fuel/nutrition/health. Since I found my secretor status I haven't had an avoid yet (except the accidental occurence of the corn oil on the walnuts I bought). I have read the books vey carefully. I'm happy to have gotten to a place where I eat to live and I can report I really don't have any cravings for avoids. That's a strong statement, but when you eat wrong things knowingly long enough and can identify the fact of how they affect your day/life eventually your mind gets the idea and ding you no longer crave them. I remember why I liked them, but I don't want any part of eating them. Thank you all for letting me be a part of this list. I can be very detailed and specific on my questions. I manage a great volume of records for a living so it is my nature to be thorough to the point of boring, but through all of that I learn a great deal too. But there is a human aspect to this diet the part about individuality that I really love. Being single isn't always easy, but with friends offline and these groups online, life has really been enhanced for me! I genuinely love you guys and appreciate your patience :-) Tom (aka Tombear, as in tombear at swbell dot net) Re: Non-Secretors Hi Tom, There may be more people, who are non-secs, but don't know yet. Guest guest
Tom, I think someone on this list already has pointed out the fact that there are a lot fewer of us non-secretors than secretors. Dr. D said when I heard him speak last spring that between only 10 and 20% of the world population are non-secretors. BUT, he said that about 80% of the people healthcare practitioners see regularly are non-secretors! That is why there is such a huge focus on the Live Right list around various health issues, for even though the list is for secretors and non-secretors alike, it is a forum for non-secretors to find solutions and support for our various -- and many and complex -- health issues. My DH for example, is a non-secretor, AND he falls into the blood type category that puts him among the rare 6% of Caucasians in the world! Dr. D says this may indicate a propensity for some rare disorders, but hasn't said what yet! I have no doubt Dr. D will be giving us more information as time goes on about what the typing and the M factors mean for our lives and our health, in addition to the little bit he has printed in the Live Right book, along with more and more information for non-secretors. Guest guest
I am the list mom for the Live Right list, and I agree totally with Steve. The Live Right list does try to address the various blood type factors (about 26 in all) outlined in the new Live Right book, including secretor status, for all the blood types. But ideally, in my opinion, a person who is serious about following the theory and learning more, should join Live Right AND all the lists available that pertain to your blood type specifically and those of your household. By joining all those lists, you will get a wonderful wealth of information, far more than you can get by only joining one list. Until a person has had at least the secretor test, the Live Right list may not be as helpful as the blood type specific lists. Once a person has had the secretor test and/or the blood serotype, many of the topics on the Live Right list will make a lot more sense and be more helpful. My opinion of the specific blood type lists is that they are helpful for everyone, whether they just began ER or have had ALL their blood factors determined. The Live Right list, frankly, is not geared toward people who are just beginning ER and don't know anything besides their ABO type. They aren't unwelcome on the list, it just isn't going to be very relevant to them, in my opinion. I guess that means that Live Right IS a list for non-secretors! But it is for secretors as well! LOL A1+NSa+b-MN www.shaklee.net/tiger__medicine tenzin@... Re: Non-Secretors The Live-Right-4-Your-Type list at groups deals more with secretor and non secretor issues and maybe you will find more info there, though I think you are already a member of that list, I'm not trying to move you off the list :-)
Guest guest
Eireen, I don't think that I am the aggressive Type O. I'd much rather read a good book or go for a long hike. I really don't like major confrontations, but I do dig my heels in and hold my ground when necessary. More often than not, I am in my own world since what I like, the general populace does not seem to care about. My idea of shopping is either through a catalogue on rare occasion or the " we are in here for a purpose, let's find it, and let's get out of this mall. " From what I gather, that is not a popular thing to dislike malls. Eileen > Well I will be getting a more definitive blood test soon, but using a > pendulum, I divined that I too am a non-secretor.
