25; began at age 13 or 14. Slow and steady progression. only symptom for

first 3 years was joint stiffness migrating throughout body. Then at age 16

I am 51 and diagnosed with CFS in 98. I felt I had it in 93. I first got sick in

78 but, got better.I believe your age is a big key. Maybe HGH and bovine growth

can help one overcome.- Original Message -----

44, diagnosed 6 yrs ago, first struck in '83 (19 yrs ago) and was ill for

three years, went into partial remission (defined by an ability to struggle

through work and physical workouts - highlight struggle), crashed to the

floor in '96 when I was finally dx. I do think age matters - was in my late

twenties the first go around. No getting up this time.

I just can't give a simple answer like everyone else. Maybe it's some sort

of vestibular dysfunction that makes me have to ramble on, but...here goes:

42 yo, CFS for 26 yrs (Came down with food poisoning that put me in the

hospital a couple months after having a couple amalgam fillings put in,

(that a couple years later had to be replaced because they became severely

corroded, and probably were poisoning me from the day they were put in) and

then turned around and came down with Mono a couple months after the food

poisoning and before I had gotten to a point where I felt healed from the

food poisoning, and just never got over the symptoms of the mono.)

FM for 3 1/2 yrs (Came down with Type A Influenza during very stressful time

that turned into pneumonia, then tore a muscle in my back a couple months

later from the vertigo from the neurological problems that developed

following the pneumonia, then tore a ligament in my neck a few months later

still in a car accident, which pretty much made me bedridden, made my

CFS/neurological problems much worse, and caused me to develop MCS and RA

about the same time)

But...I had Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID) from the age of 2 1/2 on

from vaccination damage. (Had seizures, high fevers, etc. with vaccinations

as a child, and a major personality change after a DTP shot at 2 1/2) Some

people feel autistic spectrum disorders (like SID) are related to CFS. My

son has Asperger's, which is an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, but he developed

CFS 3 years ago at the age of 14, (he's now 17) about 6 months after I

developed FM. And my husband (age 42) has slowly been developing symptoms of

CFS over the last 3 years (he was recently diagnosed with Myofacial Pain

Syndrome, has fatigue problems, sleep disturbance, increased sinus and soar

throat problems, foggy minded, poor memory, and allergies have gotten much

worse) but refuses to believe he might have CFS.

Oh maybe I should have given alittle more detail for the survey.

Sudden viral onset in '91 (woke up in the morning with my head

spinning). Was a very healthy athletic women before this, never sick

in my life.

So now I'm 40yrs old and had CFS for 11 yrs.

age:- 27

illness started around age 14.

Always suffered from severe dust allergies (excessive

sneezing) every day for several years before I fell

sick.

started with a headache(burning pressure like band) at

the age of 14 and then in 4 months progressed into flu

like symptoms, muscle aches, increased heart rate,

excessive perspiration, extreme fatigue,weakness,

brain fog, insomnia, burning sensation all over the

body(not fever like- had to pour cold water on me all

the time to cool myself), intense thirst, excessive

tremors in fingers, shortness of breath etc etc.

Now my major symptoms are adrenal burn out, fatigue,

extreme weakness, insomnia and brain fog, thirst,

shortness of breath.

Thanks

Gayathri

Thats great that you are in remission! What were your main cfs symptoms?

Also what does BVT therapy involve?? How is it done? I have heard of it

before. Thanks! Sara

>But for those of us who are older I am not sure there is much hope.

I'm 53, had a " sudden onset " 10/25/94, but had symptoms 3 years

prior after my thyroid was destroyed with radioactive iodine

treatment for Graves' Disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism).

I AM IN 100% REMISSION FROM ALL CFS/FM SYMPTOMS FOR 5 MONTHS with bee

venom therapy (BVT).

My thyroid is also bouncing back with BVT in spite of the radiation

damage. I have been on the same full thyroid hormone replacement

dose for 11 years, but had to LOWER the dose two months ago as

indicated by recent multiple thyroid tests. My endocrinologist is

astounded! I'm in the early stages of menopause and never felt

better. Steve, don't underestimate the innate ability of the body to

heal for older PWCs!

There is always hope!

Bzzz...

(who didn't have time to wait for a conventional medical

breakthrough)

-Age 62 , onset of CFS at age 49. Flu like symptoms which didn't go

away. Low grade fever, sore throat, insomnia, fatigue, inability to

concentrate. Deeper relapses brought on burning skin. All symptoms

abated except adrenal depletion, extreme fatigue, particularly after

activity (social or physical). Need 12 - 14 hours rest, sleep to

somewhat function.

This is a depressing thread. So do we have a tally yet, what are the

stats of the board. 23 here since 18. I mean if we're all going to

share our age, what's the point without some kind of stat...you

know. Somebody do the totals please...

Oh, and chronic fatigue, it is curable. To all you skeptics out

there. You need the right doctor, the right insurance, and you have

to pro-active even in your sickened condition. Believe me, I'm not

well, not at all, but I will get well...it's just a matter of time.

And I plan on it sooner than later. That's why we need to help each

other out. The insurance issues are the problems. They don't want

to cover anything exp. that costs them money.
