Guest guest
Hi ... I know of two other people who had this happen to them. In both cases, unfortunately, it was a problem with their fusions which had to be redone. If your surgeon is not responding, I would encourage you to get another opinion. Guest guest
Have you done physical therapy since your surgery? If not, then I am surprised your surgeon did not recommend it since he says it is a muscle problem. If you have & it gave you no improvement then in your position I would get the opinion of another doctor. Sorry you are having a hard time. Surgery itself is difficult enough without having these troubles afterward.
Guest guest
.I haven't posted in several months but your message got my attention. I also walk bent over and to the right..It has been bcoming progressively worse..Had my rods put in , in Jan.2000 and before that I was in pain but at least I walked fairly straight....It is extremely painful at times especially when I try to walk " not " bent over .. Jill -- post-op surgery Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 5/16/06 I am fused from T7 to L5. My problem is that I can not walk straight. I walk bent over like an old woman and lean to the right side. My doctor said it was due to my muscle. I am starting not to agree with him. Has anyone experienced this after surgery and if so how long until walking correctly? It is very painful for me to try to stand straight and it feels like there is something stopping me from doing it. I am starting to get very depressed over the whole deal. Can some one help? Guest guest
I'd be concerned. I had the same problem (except no pain) about 4 weeks after one surgery with Dr. Hu in San Francisco. They did several X-rays, and determined that one of the screws had come loose. They had to go back and take that hardware out, put new hardware in, and fuse it again. Please get a second opinion! Guest guest
Jill, After your surgery did you walk straight? If so what happened to cause you to walk bent over and to the right? I thought that after surgery, once I recovered from the pain everything would be fine. I never thought that I would be walking this way and still in a great deal of pain 3 months after surgery. I want to thank everyone for their advice. I am seeing my doctor on the 24 th of this month. I want to be normal again. -- In Scoliosis Treatment , " Jill " <jhorn42@...> wrote: > > .I haven't posted in several months but your message got my attention. > I also walk bent over and to the right..It has been bcoming progressively > worse..Had my rods put in , in Jan.2000 and before that I was in pain but at > least I walked fairly straight....It is extremely painful at times > especially when I try to walk " not " bent over .. > Jill > > -- post-op surgery > > Hi everyone, > I had my surgery on 5/16/06 I am fused from T7 to L5. Guest guest
..I always walked a little bent over after the surgery but I thought it was because I was compensating for the pain ..It has become progressively worse over the years along with the pain..I am up to 90 mg 3x a day of ms contin and 30mg every 2 hours of morphine when needed.. I have been back to the specialist several times and they never give me any answers..I'm told basically that I would just have to live with the pain..I do have my good days when it is bearable but as soon as I do most things the pain starts up..Everything I do I do sitting down..I also have a large hard bone shaped bulge that is highly visible that no one can explain..They have ran all kids of tests and it never shows up but you can see it ..Hopefully the doctors will have some answers for you where they didn't for me.. Guest guest
Hi ..The bulge is on the far left hand side in my lower back ..It almost looks like a rod sticking out and it is extremely hard...At first the doctor thought it was a rod or bone pressing on the skin but nothing continues to show up..I cannot sit back in a chair and anytime I'm in the car or for that matter sitting anywhere I have to put a piece of foam behind it because it becomes very painful.. Guest guest
Jill, Have them x-ray you from the side. My rod broke in Sept. (many yearas ago) Hopkins kept x-raying it and nothing showed up. After 8 months a lump appeared. I went back to Hopkins and they x-rayed from the side and found the broken rod. I had been telling them it broke. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks so much..I will give that information to my doctor at my next visit. So even though I had an MRI and a cat scan you don't think would have showed up?..I guess they probably don't show everything there is to be seen..Were you in a lot of pain when your rod broke? Guest guest
Yes, I had awful pain from the time my rod broke (Sept.) until May when it started poking out creating a lump. I thought I had a CT scan but it was in 1983 and hard to remember.
