Sharon, it sounds like you have been having very good experiences with the kelp, and not so good with the Iodoral. I'm wondering what would happen if you just stayed with the kelp. Are your good experiences primarily because you are taking small amounts? Would the results also be good at large amounts?

Are your not-so-good experiences with the Iodoral because you are getting a lot more iodine than with the kelp?

Is there something in Kelp that may make it better for the body than Iodoral?

Maybe you might be interested in working on the kelp research project????

Zoe

So I decided to try kelp. I started at one pill (about 260% RDA) and when I got up to 3 pills I felt a small improvement. I took four pills and felt even better. One day after that I got my period, which was unusual at 22 days when I am normally 25-26. I thought perhaps my improvement might have come due to the time in my cycle but it is not normal (for me) for the tenderness to go away the day before - it usually lasts through the first day of my period. So I was tentatively excited - iodine may be helping! Several days later I received my Idoral and started taking one pill. I made it two days before realizing that my being very slow and exhausted was a trend and connected it to the Idoral. I stopped taking it and it took another day before I felt good. Now I'm back on kelp the past few days, again, feeling good.I'm not sure what I will do in terms of dose and trying Idoral again. I'm thinking I may do kelp for a month or so and then try Idoral at 1/2 pill every other day like someone recently posted that they did. From reading everyone's posts on this list I get the real sense that it is quite easy to do too much too soon. While I understand and would love to be able to put up with a few side effects for the sake of overall health, I'm not in the position to go in that direction. My adrenal fatigue issues need to take priority and side effects would be too much/too stressful for my adrenals and would likely set me back. So... That is where I am right now. Any thoughts or suggestions are definitely welcome! Thanks much,Sharon

Hi Zoe, Thanks!

I have been continuing on the kelp and have two things to report.

First, I do have to be very careful with the amounts and right now

feel best on only 3 pills. If I take 4 I feel tired, just like I did

on Idoral (but not quite as tired - think it is an issue of

amounts). Second, I have had to stop my thyroid medication due to

heart palpitations, I believe indicating that the iodine is helping

my thyroid function. I was on a very low dose of Synthroid

(37.5mcg), so I was hoping/expecting that result after reading the

Idoral literature. It was a pleasant surprise that I got that

increased thyroid effect from my relatively low dose of kelp

(compared to Idoral iodine levels). Even with all this good news I

really would like to be able take Idoral so that I could get a

higher dose and not overdo on the kelp. Even though kelp is working

great for me, my gut feeling is that if I could handle more iodine

it would be better to switch to a non-kelp product. I have no

science to back this up but I think seaweed should only be taken in

small amounts. But I am trying to be patient and not rush things -

sometimes letting health improve gradually is best especially when

we are talking about clearing toxicity.

Thanks again and take care,

Sharon
