Guest guest
That seems to be normal but will notice it more as time goes by and you lose the layer of fat under your skin. newstart4andromeda wrote: >I have a question for all you veteran bandsters. Guest guest
Normal. I'm 8 months out and down 60 lbs. It is quite touchable now. Especially since my surgeons have taught me how to do crunches to pop up the port so it is easier accessible. I can get it right flat on the surface. However, it has never been painful or even uncomfortable. I perceive it this way - it reminds me I have a device inside of me that I need to work with and protect from bad eating. I'm proud of it! Today makes 4 weeks post op for me and I can feel my port. It feels like a little knot or something. My question is has anyone else felt that and does it go away? I'm not swollen anymore it's just that little hard area. Is this normal or should I be alarmed?
Guest guest
Is it really your port or is it just a hard feeling near your largest incision? I know I thought for a little while that my port was directly under that incision until I had my fill and found out it was way down by my belly button (which used to be farther away from my incision than it is now). Maybe you are just feeling scare tissue. That was what I found out mine was. Now I still can't feel my port no matter how hard I've tried to look for it. Guest guest
Unless your port is buried so deeply in fat that you can't feel it, most everyone can feel theirs, I'll bet. And as you lose you'll be able to feel it more, as there won't be as big a layer of fat over it. On some people when they lose a LOT of weight it can actually be visible (well, the bump is). I figure that no matter what, it looks a heck of a lot better than an acre of fat. dan Friday, February 17, 2006, 11:19:04 AM, you wrote: n> I have a question for all you veteran bandsters. Guest guest
Audrey, You know I've never thought about that. It is under my largest incision. I have a follow up visit on Monday so I will see what he says. Audrey Hoover <audreyhoover@...> wrote: Is it really your port or is it just a hard feeling near your largest incision? Guest guest
depending on how much you lose, get down to the port will be very noticeable, and for me it can be seen through my clothes emily newstart4andromeda wrote: >I have a question for all you veteran bandsters. Guest guest
I can feel mine too and as others have stated more so as weight comes off. Mine is a couple of inches under my right breast. My newest experience.....trying to wear an underwire bra...very uncomfortable. I'm fine as long as nothing is leaning on it....ahem, like my husband. Its really not a nuisance, though. > > I have a question for all you veteran bandsters. Today makes 4 weeks > post op for me and I can feel my port. It feels like a little knot or > something. Guest guest
Unless you're starting out very thin, this is not likely you're port you're feeling. for most of us, the post is under 3-6 inches or more of abdominal or epigastric fat. This is more likey the normal knot of a combination of forming scar tissue, inflammation, possibly a small hematoma, the extra fluid that accumultaes temporarily around an incision. This knot will slowly resolve over several months or up to a year. If it is actually the port, no, it won't go away!:-) but will feel more and more superficial as you lose weight.. this is all normal. At or near goal, most ports ar easily felt and can even protrude a bit in a small rounded limp. you'll find out for sure if this is your port or normal healing tissue when you go for your first fill or followup appt.
