Guest guest
Over the years, the Thrifty Scot here has written on what Scot's do best, pinching pennies - in particular on our specialty electronics - for better hearing , beyond the hearing aid, or cochlear implant. Here is my update for 2010: * Many items are sold at list price, or close to. Megabucks can often be saved in a simple Google search - with the manufacturer's name and product model number. Available discounts vary widely, by vendor and manufacturer - up to around 50% from manufacturer's list price. * Albeit personal " customer service " will vary from vendor to vendor, remember that the manufacturer, in almost all cases, is the one honoring the warranty, and the ultimate source for tech-help. ( 50 years in the electronic equipment warranty service business speaking) * Join HLAA, the Hearing Loss Association of America. Why? For those unfamiliar, in addition to the excellent bi-monthly magazine, Hearing Loss, a bit here about the organization, and what it's doing for you: http://www.hearingloss.org/aboutus/index.asp * On the Thrifty Scot thing, HLAA members shopping at Teltex for our stuff not only receive a 25% discount on ALL items in the catalog, but HLAA receives a 10% donation as well! The Thrifty Scot has confirmed both! You can read about that here: http://www.teltex.com/hlaa/index.htm * To show the Thrifty Scot is not a shill for Teltex in any way, I will also say that in some cases a better deal can be found with that Google search - typically in cases of manufacturers that persist in totally inflated list prices - such as Clearsounds. * Enjoy the savings!
