Guest guest
I am sorry to hear that you are upset If you don't think your doctor is right you can always get a second opinion. I don't know your history, but I suppose some people need to get off it at some point and others, like me, need to be on medication always. Best wishes to you. Guest guest
I was told by one doc to stay on something forever......another told me not to. ??? I've weaned off Paxil and Celexa before and HATE those electric shocks too.....the best thing to do is drink lots and lots of water. It really helps even though you'll still have some shocks etc. ( You can always get a second opinion too or try another med since you aren't ready to go off? Take care, Cyndi On 10/27/06, mita2161 <atomiccycle@...> wrote: > > TODAY SUCKS! Guest guest
I don't understand how your Doc. can take you off of something and not put you on something else to help with the transition. I would say you had an addiction to it if it weren't for the fact that you had problems when you forgot to take it. Maybe going down a little at a time won't be such a jolt to your system and things will be better when you are off. I feel sometimes that I am emotionally dependent on the ADs except that when I forget to take mine I have anxiety problems moreso than when I am steadily on them. ak --- mita2161 <atomiccycle@...> wrote: > TODAY SUCKS! Guest guest
just wanted to cheer you on.. on the going off lex. i went off about 6 months ago or so ( ??) now. just so you know i am VERY med sensitive . hypersensitive if you will esp with these Antidepressants. I went on lexapro one Mg at a time & each mg would brig me to new heights of anxiety i never knew before (ie . i could feel each increase even in such a small amount & that is just how sensitive really i am ) i went off less slow than you and i was ok more or less. so my point is you should be fine if you are going so far as to take the 1/4 pill every other day for 2 weeks. i think i was on more each day ( maybe 3 mg each day and then stopped . SO no worries . enjoy the mini wheats. also... what is DHEA for again? that is herbal correct?and does you Doctor know you take that ? i am bringing this up cause I think i saw you mention the DHEA more than once and i got concerned as there Are many herbals NOT allowed with antidepressants and so i thought I'd point that out for you as well as for anyone reading who may not know this . . I am not sure about DHEA but i know for example St john's wart is a HUGE no no. it can cause an overload of seretonin in the brain and you can get very sick if used while on antidepressants. please check with your Dr ( if you haven't already)before using anything herbal while antidepressants are in your system by the way how come they are taking you off the lex? the obvious answer is it wasn't working but you say it was a shock to you so maybe the answer is not such an obvious one hugs, alison
Guest guest
THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT. I TALKED TO MY DOCTOR ABOUT THE DHEA CAUSE I HAD NO LIBIDO AND I HEARD THAT ONE SIDE AFFECT FOR WOMEN WAS THAT IT INCREASED THAT. HE WASNT SURE BUT HE SAID TRY IT AND SEE. ALSO I HEARD THAT IT HELPS WITH DEPRESSION WHICH I DINT HAVE JUST ANXIETY. HE SAID TO TRY IT WITH THE SMALL DOSE AND SEE. IT DOES SEEM TO HELP WITH MY MOOD AND THE LIBIDO A LITTLE BIT. I WORK AS A PARTS MANAGER AT AN AUTOMOTIVE GARAGE WITH 7 MECHANICS AND IN THE MORNING BEFORE I TAKE THE DHEA THE GUYS KEEP TELLING ME THAT IM A RAGING B@* & H WHILE IM GOING THRU WITHDRAWLS. LOL THE REASON I WENT OFF LEX IS CAUSE I GAINED WEIGHT, SWEATING, SHAKY, NO LIBIDO AND I JUST FELT BLAH NOT HAPPY NOT SAD JUST BLAH. SO HE SAID TIME TO TRY GOING WITHOUT IT AND SEE IF I COULD KEEP MY ANXIETY UNDER CONTROL WITHOUT ANYTHING. MISTI
Guest guest
Alison you are so right about using any extra substances with Lex. I talked to a Pharmacist about using that suppliment that is suppose to help with your brain. (I forgot the name-ginko biloba?) Maybe if I could take it I would remember the name of it. However, it is not good for Lex users to take that either. We can take a combo of Vit. B that someone on this board suggested a few weeks ago to help with something, i for got what though. I think it's a safe thing to either check with your Doc. or a Pharm. before adding anykind of supplements to our med. routine. This includes cold medications, alergy, anything new. ak --- Alison J Rosenberg <crazydaizy@...> wrote: > just wanted to cheer you on.. on the going off lex. > i went off about 6 > months ago or so ( ??) now. > > just so you know i am VERY med sensitive . > hypersensitive if you will > esp with these Antidepressants.
