Billion for Education! Take Action!

$15 Billion Education

Commitment from U.K.!

Take Action!

U.S. Must Do More!

Write a Letter to the Editor Urging U.S.

to Increase and Match U.K. Commitment to Millennium Development

Goals on Education

On April 10, 2006 the U.K. made good on

a promise made during the G-8 Summit at Gleneagles last summer,

announcing an investment of an additional $15 billion over the

next 10 years to help poorer nations achieve Education for All. The new

money represents almost a tripling of current U.K. basic education

spending, and a near doubling of overall global external basic

education assistance.

The U.S. must now do their part to fill the funding

gaps to help impoverished nations ensure a basic primary education for

all of their children. In the face of the AIDS pandemic and severe

poverty, over 100 million of the poorest and most vulnerable primary

school-aged children currently not in school cannot afford to wait any

longer.

Join RESULTS and the Global Campaign for Education

to speak out!

This month, your letter to the editor on education

will not only be leveraged with RESULTS activists around the country

and others in the Global Campaign for Education, you can also

participate locally by inviting your members of Congress or other

community leaders to local “mock hearings.” You can write

letters or call members of Congress and/or work with a local teacher to

encourage kids in your community to use artwork to make the case for

education in the Send My Friend to

School poster contest.

For more information on taking action on education

in April contact Kolleen Bouchane at:

go to http://www.campaignforeducationusa.org.

The official Week of Action is

April 26 – 30 but educating and organizing early is always

encouraged!
