Kent,

Please let Hazel know that she is in my thoughts and prayers.

BTW, our behaviorist is a WVU graduate :)

Re: Re: Kent

Hi!

I'm still alive. Been taking great pains to simplify my life so I've

been mostly lurking. I've responded to quite a few emails but I

usually just respond directly to the individual.

Hazel (who has bone cancer) is beginning to deteriorate very quickly.

Christmas and Hazel's 81st birthday were bittersweet events. About 2

weeks ago, she was reaching for an empty plastic grocery bag and her

collarbone snapped. She's so small and fragile now that transferring

her from her wheelchair to her reclining is an absolutely terrifying

process because you're sure she's going to break in two. She's still

fighting though and has no intention of just giving up. Knowing that

more broken bones and much more pain is in store for her, I'm really

hoping she dies peacefully in her sleep before things get much worse.

and Ben are doing quite well. Ben's having another stellar

school year and just won the Geography Bee for her entire Middle

school (800 kids).

Take Care,

Kent

Kent, I'm so sorry to hear about Hazel--it must be very hard to see how much

pain she is in right now. A big congrats to for winning the Geography

Bee! Our Colleen is in a spelling bee tonight--everyone please keep you fingers

crossed. Last year she came in second place and she wants to win this year!

It's also nice to hear that your Ben is having another good year. Don't stay too

much a stranger!

Hi Kent,

Maybe it's just ME, but I'm not sure what you mean by auditory

processing. How your brain interprets sound? How your CI gets the

sound to your auditory nerve. How you hear with a CI vs with a HA or

your ears? ly, I know nothing about any of the above. And that

might be a reason why nobody is replying to you. You know the old

saying, " Better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and

remove all doubts. "

I think any topic about hearing is appropriate to this forum. Just

might be a bunch of folks who know nothing about it, and can't add to it,

but would certainly like to know more.

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask if the auditory processing is a touchy topic for

this forum? I asked couple questions related to how we can actually

establish the auditory processing with our CIs, and I unfortunately

didn't get any feedback. Is this topic appropriate? Is it too difficult

to discuss? Please let me know so I will not persist on this forum.

Regards,

Kent

Hi ,

I didn't realize that the phrase, auditory processing, was technical for some

people. I was thinking simple like the speech perception (Deb's words). I was

interested in our ability to understand what we hear. I apologize for the vague

phrase.
