Hello everyone. I had my surgery Wednesday and I am doing great. I took

the bandage off last night and washed my hair this morning. The only

side effect I have is my tongue is numb on right side and my face and

head are a little swollen. Other than that I feel great. They did not

shave much hair at all. I did not sleep well first night home because

the bandage was on so tight to keep pressure on ear but last night I

don't think I even woke up after taking it off. What a relief!! Anyways

I just wanted to updated and let everyone know how it went.

Thanks

April

Hey April!

The hard part is over for you. I'm glad you are feeling great! The

numbness and swelling will go away in time. Now you can let the hook

up countdown begin and what an exciting day that will be for you!

Best wishes for a continued smooth recovery. Be sure to pace yourself

and rest when you feel need to for the next week.

Keep us posted on how it's going for you!

Hi April,

I am glad your surgery went well.

I thought ones had to wait at least a week to 10 days before ones can wash ones

hair?

Was it this Wednesday Jan. 25th you had the surgery or Wednesday Jan. 18th?

Great news April! When I saw the surgeon on Weds for my appt he mentioned

that I might get a numb tongue so it sounds a fairly common side effect.

Hope you are back on you feet very quickly!

HI April,

Thanks for the update. It was so encouraging to know you did well. I am

having my surgery on Feb. 13th. I was glad to hear you were able to wash your

hair after only a couple of days. I thought we had to wait longer. Take care

and keep us posted on how you are doing. Do you have any residual hearing in

your unimplanted ear to help you while you wait to be acitivated?

Blessings,

Barb

Oh I am so happy for you April. You must be thrilled to be able to

come through the surgery as well as you did. Take it easy and let us

know all the things you experience - especially hook up! Wonderful

news.

April,

I've been slowly trying to catch up with e-mail, but wanted to welcome you

to the list and congratulate you on your surgery!! <smile>

The numbness you are experiencing is temporary, so you should be feeling

better within a few days. A friend of mine who was implanted several months

ago also complained of numbness on one side of his tongue, but it

disappeared within a week.

Hope you're feeling better soon and I'm glad surgery went well!! I'm looking

forward to reading about your activation!! <smile>
