Guest guest
Thanks! I am in the thick of the mapping process so it would be very handy. I had my second mapping yesterday and I was at 2400 herz on my first map but slowed down to 1800 herz, which I prefer. We have increased the dynamic range as well, my tolerance for loud sounds seems to be improving. I still struggle with hearing soft threshold tones due to my tinnitus but this time there was a rep from Cochlear at my mapping and she suggested to my audiologist that we increased the length of the beeps to help me. I do believe that the static background that I had upon activation has improved a little. My CI moment - I could hear my daughter whispering to me. Before I would 100% lipread someone who was whispering to me as the sound was too soft for me to pick up with hearing aids but this time I heard my daughter's words clearly as if she was speaking at a normal tone. I was still facing her as I can't seem to understand words without some degree of lipreading. Overall I am feeling more positive now. The first week I was happy to hear again but really hoping that it would improve a LOT (anyone relate?). Now I can see tangible proof that it is slowly improving. If you print this out for your father, perhaps he can use this to better describe what the sounds are like to his audiologist. The audiologist can then adjust his map to make the sounds better. > Hope this helps. > Happy Hearing! > Carol > Boca Raton, FL > N24C 3G left ear -12/11/01 > N Freedom- right ear- implanted 3/01/06 activated 4/6/06 __________ NOD32 1.1647 (20060706) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
