Hello All,

It has been 2 weeks since I was banded. I got the courage to get on the

scale today. I couldnt believe it. Since surgery, I have lost 15lbs!!!

I was thrilled. I totally thought that maybe, just maybe, I might have

lost 5lbs. But, thankfully it was more. Some struggles these past weeks

have been (there are many so I'll name just a few) cooking for my

family, drinking water,Isopure, broth quitting smoking and not being

able to chew things. I also had a small infection with two stitches.

I've got them under control and they are clearing up. I am concerned,

that I will gain weight back during the next few stages. Any

suggestions to continue being a loser? I hope all my Bandmates are

doing well. Best of luck to everyone and goodluck to all going to

Mexico next week.

Kira

Hi Kira, Sounds like your doing great! The next few weeks are for healing internally, so don't stress about losing more weight during that time ok? Take each stage slowly and go back a stage if you need to. Any weight loss before your fill is a BONUS. Once the swelling from the surgery goes down, you will notice that you are able to eat easier, and get hungry more often. Thats because the band is not inflated and the stomach wall swelling hads resolved leaving you with a fairly normal opening to your lower stomach. The band has little if any restriction without saline in it, like a tire with no air. This is a learning process for us all. Once it is time for your 1st fill you will be "activating" the band and your weight loss will pick-up. You will feel satisfied on less, and feel hungry less often. and I can tell you by 3mos I had the good and the bad of eating figured out and felt pretty normal physically and in the way I could eat. I'm glad your infection is clearing. As far as chewing goes, try some gum for now. Thin oatmeal, small-curd cottage cheese have some texture so when you get to the mushies your need to chew should be satisfied more. You can do it, the first 2wks were the hardest and they are history for you! The rest gets easier...and soon you will be a pro at this.. lol

Keep the faith, and post anytime, the group will help you through thick & thin!!

Me & jacqui, my daughter, are going to Mexico for surgery on the 6th of July, we will post when we get back. All the best to you and Happy 4th!......Dana
