Guest guest
That is the beauty of the CI's NO FEED BACK. Dont miss it one iota. People can hug you you can fall asleep with it on no feedback. you can turn it up no feed back. you can do what ever you do no feed back :-) -- Snoopy N24C-bilateral
Guest guest
Pete, With a CI, there is absoluely no feedback which is a welcomed relief after being a hearing aid user. In fact, it's one of the thing ci users brag about. <smile> Alice N24 11/99 N24C 04/03 Bilateral --- ka3rfe <phopping@...> wrote: > Do CIs produce any feedbck? Guest guest
Feedback is a result of the speaker and microphone being too close together. The sound goes into the mic, comes out the speaker, goes back into the mic, and comes out of the speaker.... Well you get the idea. That is why the power aids tend to cancel out the benefits of that increased power. Since the CI does NOT have a speaker, its not an issue. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Therapy is expensive. Guest guest
Yes, I know what causes feedback in hearing aids. But! when magnetic loop ampifyers are used in the precense of a PA system carrying the same audio, feedback will also result. I used to make them, which is why I asked. The magnetic loops create a large area magnetic field and not a sound signal, yet we used to get feedback with them in conjunction with PA speakers. They somehow get magnetically coupled. I tried making filters, but couldn't get them to work with each other. So that is why I ask, since there's a magneticcaly inducted field beween the internal part of the system where the outer receiver couples with the internal electronics. I know I misspelled a lot of words today, I can't see very well today and its hard to type, let alone proofread. I'm having a " bad eye " day, I guess. Guest guest
Pete, Magnetic fields wont cause feedback. But it can cause a reaction, yes. This is nowhere near a problem even with the 3G which has built in telecoil, unless it is switched to telecoil. You'd have to have a really storng signal to be coupled otherwise. I've never noticed, not even when going thru any type of security system. I can relate to those " bad eye " days. Mine are getting worse. Just more incentive to get this 3G mapped even better. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* There are two theories to arguing with women. Guest guest
Alice, thanks for the reply. I'm going to hit the electomagnetic theory to see if I can understand why CIs with BTEs don't have feedback. My experience with large area magnetic loop amplifiyers and PA systems is that there is feedback between the two systems and I thought this might be a similar occurance. I'm glad to find out there's no feedback. That way I can sneak up behind people and steal their wallets! (joking...) Pete > > Do CIs produce any feedbck? Guest guest
Ahhhh Pete the word I was trying to think of is crossover. That I think is applicable here to CIs. But again, I've not experienced any interference with my CI. Just don't walk around with the telecoil on. LOL *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Don't sweat it.
