The downside of losing weight, only SOMEWHAT facetious

Okay folks. Id like to start a new thread, and please all you

oldtimers, jump on this with me!

Ive lost ninety pounds, and dont have a whole lot more that I plan

to lose, maybe another 10 or 20. Having lost all this, I find that

there are NEW stuggles to contend with, that I didnt consider

before. Im going to list the ones I can think of.

Yes, this list is somewhat facetious, but at the same time, very

truthful!

1) I spend WAY too much time shopping for clothes now, and WAY too

much money on them! I used to hate shopping, now its one of my

favorite pasttimes.

2) Losing the extra fat on my belly and legs makes it HURT when my

kids sit on my stomach or thighs and bounce up and down, riding me

like Im a horse.

3) Now that I can get a good look at my legs, I see there are more

spider veins than I care to know about.

4) Losing weight in my face, has left some skin there. My grooves

along the side of my mouth are more apparent now. Granted, they are

genetic and I cant escape them, but the pudge in my face before used

to smooth them out.

5) Now that Im not obsessing about my weight, Im obsessing about

other body flaws, however minute they might be in comparison to 90

lbs of fat. (My skin is aging, my thighs sag horribly, I am always

covered in bruises (I have always bruised easily, now I notice

them), my teeth are getting yellow, the list goes on and on. AND my

ribcage and shoulders are BIG! Never noticed before, they were

hidden.)

6) I drink a lot more water now, so Im always peeing.

7) Ive bought newer sexier shoes and boots to go with my newer

sexier body. Now, my feet hurt from tromping around the city in 2.5

inch heels for hours on end. Never used to be a problem, I only

wore COMFY shoes, and WOULDNT have walked for hours.

Well, this is all that comes to mind immediately. Help, anyone?

well i dont have my surgery until april 10th so for the meantime - all i can focus on is how fat my belly is still.....but i hope to be able to join in with you and and especially the shopping part - right now shopping for me is probably my very least favorite thing to do and almost always throws me into a mental breakdown realizing that there are so many cute clothes out there and i cannot fit into any of them - so even though i too weigh 180 pounds - i am short and absolutely do not carry it well (i have very skinny legs and i look like a toothpick stuck in an olive) omhasen <skwilks100@...> wrote: Okay folks. I remember a story in college about a frenchmen who was given a

beautiful new silk dressing gown, he then felt he needed a better

dresser to put it in, and then a better bedroom set, and then a better

house and so on. Kinda of like the " If you give a mouse a cookie "

story.

Funny how human nature works...

ROFL!!! I can so identify with what you've written.

I too have become an obsessive shopper. Luckily, I'm happy at Ross and Marshalls so it hasn't made too big a dent in the budget. I've also realized that I do have a ways to go and shouldn't go overboard just yet in replacing my wardrobe.

It does hurt more when my 6 year old launches himself onto my lap but the upside is we can now share the same chair with room to spare!

Spider veins - I'm so right there with you but I just figured they came with age though that's not your problem.

My face looks great - nobody believes it when I tell them I'm 50 - but my neck/throat is another story and CURVES doesn't help that at all. That may be my one "vanity" surgery in a few years.

I've always been a water drinker and have found that after several months your body aclimates to it and you really don't pee that much more.

Now for the shoes! I have purchased more shoes in the past 6 months than I had in that past 16 years! I always & only wore tennis shoes, to work, church, shopping... Now I have cowboy boots & 6 pairs of black heels. Tennis shoes are for working out in only.

I have noticed that I get dirty/envious looks from some of the women that I work with, especially the ones who are half my age and now 60-80 lbs. heavier than me. No one at my office knows about my surgery and it's not something I'll ever share with them as I've endured years of ridicule there. They see what I eat now and they know I work out so I just leave it there. I haven't even told my Mom & Sister becasue I know they would not be supportive.

Anyway, thanks for the great update and CONGRATULATIONS on your terrific success.

Liz

PS: are you back in the States yet?

Very funny!

By the way...I have Stpephanie's picture and she looks just

beautiful!!!!

Unfortunately I cannot share her full body picture on the group

because her hair is uncovered and only women can see it, if any

women want to see it I can send it ( she does have very nice hair,

it was true :) ) . I will post the one with her hair covered and

you can see her thin face.

, I can really relate!! Ok, here are mine

1. The "Apron" on my belly is gross looking, kinda like a prune.

2. Lots of attention from people who notice the weight loss. I can do without all the attention, really!

3. Getting rid of all my cute "big" clothes and now looking over at the plus size section and seeing cuter clothes that wont fit me (the grass is always greener?)

4. Yeah, the extra grooves on my face and my "waddle" on my neck.

5. People who know you had the surgery will stare at you while you eat

6 Oh yeah, my belly button is bigger and deeper (gross)

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot more upsides, but really the attention from people asking "What did you do to lose it?" and "What do you eat?" are getting tired. I do like the attention from the opposite sex, not that I would ever go THERE, but it makes me feel pretty good that I "still got it" lol.
