Thanks for the welcome! (You too Shaye!)

Oh, I'm sure there will be plenty of room for all of us, I'm just afraid

we're going to take over the entire lot in front of the town hall come

festival time! LoL

Right now, most of my soaps are pretty " basic " , as I'm working on EO blends.

I'm a sucker for new things too... Silk soap sounds like something that

would be fun to try. Would you mind letting me know where you're getting

your fibers from? Though I shouldn't be asking, I got four new FO's and two

new molds to play with already today. As soon as my little monster is in bed

it'll be play time for Mommy... Heh. When I first picked up a few things to

give soaping a try I never thought I'd have this much fun with it.

Welcome, Laurel (I love your name!)! I think there's plenty of room for us

all in Naples! I think that every soaper's soap is unique to them, don't

you? That's probably why I still buy other people's soap! I've been buying

another NY soapmaker's Silk soap this winter because I absolutely love it

but haven't had time to try making some myself. I'm ordering silk fibers

today so hopefully I'll get it as right as she does. Sometimes I just like

to try something different. I already have way too many fragrances and eo

blends but I'm always a sucker for something new.

Soapmaking is addicting for sure! I'm probably going to get my silk fibers

from Rainbow Meadow ( www.rainbowmeadow.com ) unless I can find them cheaper

someplace else or someplace where I'd be ordering other things. I'm scouring

the internet now. I have hydrolized silk amino from From Nature With Love

but haven't used it yet. It's really expensive and the usage rate is too

high to make it worthwile in soap. I'm saving it for some special lotion

when I get time. Have fun with your soapmaking tonight!

Thats where I got my silk fibers. 4 oz. of it will go a LOOOONg way too. I

have tried both the fibers and the liquid in soap and Im gonna tell you the

fibers are a lot better. I coulnt even tell with the liquid that it was in

there. Maybe It takes more than I put in but I think the fibers are better.

You just cut off a big pinch full and put it in the lye water when you first

mix it up.

Yeah, Kibby at FNWL told me to use 4-10% of the aminos in soap. That's an

awful lot for the price. The soap I've been using is from at Creekside

Soaps in Crompond, NY. I'm pretty sure she uses the fibers too. Some people

have told me that they buy raw silk from weaver suppliers but that you might

have to pick out cocoons. I'd rather not have to mess with that. Are Rainbow

Meadows fibers clean?

Katy yes, very clean. It looks like , if you can visualize this, a looong

lock of angels hair and its in a zip lock baggie. kinda of a blondish,

creamyish color. I dont know how many feet of it are in the baggie. I

would not want to mess with cocoons either, yukko. I dint think the price

was bad from rainbow meadow, but off hand I cant recall what it is exactly.

And 4 oz will go a long way.

Hi Jenni,

Thats great, I like working with adolescents especially one on one, so I am

planning to

move into school counseling or psychology. I like alternative populations, when

you work

with inner-city, homeless, or probabtion kids you really feel like the little

things make a

difference.

I was wondering if I should say anything to my students, I don't want to worry

them either

but at the same time this is such a private matter. Because I'll only be about

10 days post

op I thought if my energy level iwsn't up to par I may need to tell them

something, lmaybe

just that I had surgery without being specific, I'm still not sure. Did you tell

anyone else at

school or did you think about telling other students? That's so sweet that your

student was

worried, its good you told him. I don't want to worry my students, I have had

most of them

for two years now so many of them are pretty close, I live in the same

neighborhood as

well.

Hey Laurel, I was teaching computer hardware at the time and taught a class 7 days post op. I just told them I wasn't feeling too well. I bet by 10 days post op you will be a little sore in the abdomen but you will be getting around ok.
